Bangladesh to procure FM-3000, FK-3, LY-80D

If true it would be a huge leap forward. Wonder which one it could be.

BA has ordered a C-295W recently.
C-295AEW&C
Prototype airborne early warning and control
version with EL/W-2090 360 degree radar dome. The
AESA radar was developed by Israel Aerospace
Industries (IAI) and has an integrated IFF
(Identification friend or foe) system.
i think it will not happen bcz of Israel.
Saab 2000 would be a good choice.

Bangladesh Army is in a process to procure Orlikon 35 mm twin cannon, FM-3000 SAM, FK-3 SAM, LY-80D SAM, QW-12 MANPAD.

Can anyone translate this and to confirm the source? Thanks.

OK first row of two pictures says: Oerlikon 35mm Twin Cannon

Second row of two pictures says: FM3000 Surface to Air Missile

Third row of two pictures says: FK3 Surface to Air Missile

Fourth row of two pictures says: LY80D Surface to Air Missile

Fifth row of two pictures says: QW12 Surface to Air Missile (looks like an Anza type ManPad)

Note: Qian Wei 12 is a mystery to me because you can't find a reference for it online. Currently Bangladesh and Pakistan both produce the QW 2 as the Anza Mk. III variant.

Source was someone's cellphone but the brochure looks pretty legit....

In the past, it was the Russian steamroller. Now, it's the Chinese bamboo bashing!!!!!
well, its a bit more than that actually.... China can be a played in the Bay of Bengal as long as they're invited... India knows that Bangladesh visturally inside India..... and if another country, which is geographically inside India, does something other than what India wants, you know there's trouble....

just wait for things to come..... size doesn't matter..... its the power of intellect that rules...

the main equipment in this is Erieye.... its a 450km range AESA radar... the radar can be set on top of many types of aircraft.... so, aircraft isn't the main issue, rather the radar is....

up to this point it doesn't seem be an immediate option.... rather up to a planning stage, which would follow some of the big deals like single-engine interceptor aircraft and perhaps a twin-engine heavy fighter....

the country's radar coverage is quite good.... the geographical size and features help in this regard.... low-level watch at the border level are covered by well-trained plane watchers, backed up by high-speed digital communication links.... but this warning system is limited to watching only.... hardly any control features available here..... an airborne platform is perhaps the way to go while BD has been thinking of covering the Bay of Bengal as well.... whatever sophisticated fighter aircraft is acquired, it would be of little use without a proper airborne control system....

now, thats like a music!! :guns:
this gives a great capability in the hands of the infantry..... expensive aircraft are getting more vulnerable everyday.... a couple of soldiers carrying such a MANPADS unit would challenge multi-million-dollar close-support aircraft....

can you share some unique features of FK-3 that people may miss?

  1. Max range:100KM
  2. Max hit altitude:27KM
  3. Guidance: command and semi-active radar homing
  4. Can deal with 6 Target simultaneously with launching 12 missiles at one go.
  5. All weather operational
  6. Field and air defense
  7. Deal with UAV/cruise missile/helicopter/fixed wing aircraft
  8. Excellent anti- ecletromagnetic operation ability

I will say it again. Although BD is not rich enough now, but they have strong enterprise. I personally have very deep respect for BD and its people.

As expected. If people notice the trend in which we procure, we approach one section at a time.

Started off with the Army and new tanks and revamping the infantry with gears. As shared in another post, big procuments in artillery incoming.

Past couple of years saw massive upgrade in Navy, ending off (or just starting?!) with the submarines and ASW Helos - everything related to surface and underwater capability.

And now this time for Air Force. Started off with MRCA tenders and ramping up with every procurement regarding air-related defense as shown here.

More to come!
Brother your Army still lacks weapons. Sorry but your Army hardly has any good weapons. You seriously lack in Tanks and Anti Tank weapons.
