Bangladesh to abandon 8 projects under Indian credit

Then stop pole vaulting over our borders to reach the 'poor' India.

Who will?? you are referring to the border adjacent people who went there to do daily tasks. Even many of them has relatives in india Vis-a-vis. Ofcourse there are always someone to reach india, in that case should I mention how many wealthy indians earn bread in BD? This is meaningless two neighboring country must and do share many things . But problem arise only when one tries to act as daddy or do not respect mutual relationship. May be that ONE doesn't know wt that is..;)

Actually many of your countrymen will happily dodge BSF bullets to reach the 'poor' India.

So that means they can pole vault over the fence..stay on your side bro...we are not in a position to take any more of your countrymen.

You are trying to equate indian loan wth Chinses suppliers credit. No we did not take the supplier credit from India. India outright declared that it will extend 1 billion dollar loan to BD while Hasinas visit. Later they said they will not pay in dollar. Then they said you have the loan but you got to buy everything from India so that India will not have to pay dollar to the third party as India does not have dollars. Then again when it comes to project implementation, as we have to bring everything from India, we invited only indian suppliers to participate in the tender. Now, we bumped into another problem, as not everthing is available in India, and if available then overpriced.

Now to clear your confusion, we always take suppliers credit from China. The company which is interested to bid in any of our projects first need to win the tender through international tender. While they win it we ask Chinese government to extend loan or the company itself provide with loan. These are sea difference than what India is trying to achieve.

Thanks and take back your loan or credit or whatever. IN MMS visit to Bangladesh he again offered another billion but we refused. NO NEED.

What i have written in my previous post is exactly the definition of a type of line of credit.I was not following news at the time when PM visited Bangladesh as i had exam during that time. But if PM has said that India would provide loan then only India has to provide it in hard cash. But if it is line of credit then it is akin to a account opened in name of bangladesh in India's EXIM bank from which government of Bangladesh could withdraw to pay Indian suppliers while paying later to EXIM bank.

One more thing. Are you sure that what India offered was a loan?Difference between line of credit and a loan is hard to understand and most reporters make error in reporting.A line of credit would explain why only Indian suppliers were called to participate in Tender.

A supplier credit is the credit provided by the company or country from which you have brought a product while a line of credit is akin to a food court card which can be used within that establishment to buy whatever you want.

When Indian cow and citizen can pole vault over the fence to Bangladesh, we could try some gymnast as well. NO???

Seems like brain muscle shifted little bit backward instead of coming forward. Shake it up dude...

My brain needs no shaking but yours needs scanning as it seems you are suffering from 'selective amnesia'.

BDs brag about the Indians working in BD..but that just shows your inefficient border control.

Hey you shinning INDIANS don't bring 1971 in every argument you fail to debate logically and don't derail this thread. Chest
thumping about 1971 won't give you anything in today's age from BDs. WE BDs are looking forward (expect may be AL) to future and today's generation is smart enough to know why you helped us back then.

Now back on topic why do you need us to employ your People for our projects. Aren't you a supa pawa nation with 0
unemployment. And no don't bring China into this since they never get so low as to make their population do manual labor in
another country.

Get some data from Zabany's post that showed where our immigrants goes. Who will go to a racist country and 230 millions of people being hungry everyday? If you try to tell me about illegal immigrants at the same time you will insinuate that BSF is less capable. Show some credible data, and read some facts. you have no idea wt you are talking about..

And deliver what exactly? What are the deliverables? What value does it deliver?

Anyways, this is failure on part of the decision makers. Taka has already depreciated to a level by epic proportions. We are not going to risk any further.

Last year:
India has approved a $750 million loan for Bangladesh to develop trade infrastructure ahead of a visit to Dhaka by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this week, a senior Bangladesh official said on Sunday.

The money is part of a $1 billion credit line India proposed for its eastern neighbour to develop ports and related infrastructure, said Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, secretary of the economic relations division of the finance ministry.

India approves $750 mln infrastructure loan for Bangladesh

The thread:
The Financial Express newspaper reported the largest recipients of the loan — the Railway and the Communications Ministries — so far failed to receive funds from the Indian credit line as they took up 17 projects under the credit, but they are yet to complete tender process for most of the schemes.

The report said Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is the lone government agency, which was able to start spending some Indian credit to procure bus from India.

“Only one project has been running smoothly. The money for the rest 19 schemes under the $1 billion credit could not be utilised due to procurement complexities,” a joint secretary at the Finance Ministry told the newspaper.

The plan didn't seem to deliver any value whatsoever. Then what is the point? Bangladesh has a good credit ratings score. Seems like your guys at the bank need some lessons on Bangladesh.

I am not going to deny that IA had the favorable terrain in East Pakistan..but you are forgetting that bulk of the fighting took place in the West with IA holding off a much powerful PA while at the same time keeping an eye on China & US and there was no Mukti Bahini in the West to help us.

I would not dispute that.

There is no visa stamping for illegal migrants.

Why not deport them?

If shooting at civilians means efficiency than sorry we are very inefficient in that. Our rule of engagement must meet 21st century civilized standard. We cant follow backward India. Sorry.

^^

sorry jumping fences is not rule of engagement any century becuase you have to avoid engagement with our BSF.

China executes almost of all their projects with labors imported from China. Do a little google and you can find out for yourself. I have seen in UAE entire labor camps filled with Chinese labors working for Chinese Companies.

What are you trying to say? Its mentioned in the link itself that projects cannot start bcs tender process cannot be completed and procurement complexities (God knows what it is but surely the blame also lies in your side also)

Why not deport them?

India does not have a proper deportation agency like the ICE in USA. Once you reach India and does not stand out or get in trouble in law you can blend in with no problem. In Kerala due to some mischievous activities that was linked to BD,Kerala Police is demanding that employers who employ migrant labors should collect and verify their whereabouts.

How about your holy cows? I know Indian cows have angelic wings, just teach them to stay on ground. That will solve most of the pole vaulting... By the way we dont issues visa to cows... so its your responsibility.

Its Indias problem. We cant pay our police to go and administer India. We are not USA and cant afford to run a foreign country's affairs. If any person linked to anything you should try them and hang them. If you think its Bangladeshi, that does not make him a Bangladeshi. He must posses Bangladeshi documentation to claim himself a Bangladeshi. All our citizens are biometrically identified. We are a very advanced country my friend... We dont belong to south asia anymore... I am not talking about the geography.. you know what I meant...
