Those who are talking about tall skyscrapers in Dhaka they should know that Government policy is not to allow buildings taller than 150 ft. The buildings those who made taller than that were lucky as somehow they managed it. During 2008-9 caretaker government tried to demolish upper floors beyond 150 ft of the building that broke the law. My mama was a senior Director of Eastern Housing. So from his own account can tell you they had to lobby a lot along with other real estate companies to halt the decision. It is only due to close proximity of the airport. Near Uttara, Khilkhet area it is not allowed build houses beyond 4 or 5 flloor. That is the reason why real estate companies are lobbying for some time to get the airport out of the city so that they can go for vertical expansion.
Regarding this Dalit idiot who is talking about consumption non stop and those who are considering him saint should know that significant of the Bangladesh’s growthcame from the bottom of the society, they came out of poverty, they spent money which they got via remittance or earned and significant of the woman who joined in the workforce to support family. Their overall consumption can be less but contribution is huge. Where as in India growth mostly comes from middle or higher middle class but condition of the Pope’s worsen more. Same goes with Pakistan as well. Bangladesh is gradually upgrading infrastructure and power plants where it was lagging. So consumption level will go up exponentially in coming years as infrastructure and power supply is getting improved. Bangladesh has already overtaken Pakistan in nominal per capita GDP and will cross in PPP term soon as well. When base year will be updated Bangladesh will almost similar with India in nominal per capita gdp and will have to see how much lagging behind in PPP term. If government can take out syndicates and middle man it will improve the situation a lot.
