Bangladesh signs $1.5bn power deal with India

 Kid, who told you that?? Lobongo or toybot?? India has got 19% of Sundarbans while 81% of it lies in Bangladesh!!
Sundarbans - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I support the project but it should have been in other place i.e. Rajshahi or Rangpur!! BTW the source of coal is in Bangladesh or it will be imported??

i never knew the figures. it was just a hear say thing.

but now i looked up . it seems (according to wikipedia) 6000 sq km of 10,000 sq km falls under Bangladesh. My BAD.

The other thing you raised. Coal is from Bangladesh.

Ohh the conspiracy theory again... LOL

Kick bastaaard Anu Mohammed out of the league. Also, we got to make the people in our North Western part that, they need to contribute to the national economy someway and also need to come out of constant Monga. These can be possbible only by extracting coal. They should move out and let the miracle to take place.

Ask any top level BAL politcian or any top level BNP politcian, they will say the same thing. Even Nilphamari's Shahrin Islam Tuhin has said the same thing.

Its actually 81% in Bangladesh, check the "physiography" section of the link!!

The mangrove-dominated Ganges Delta – the Sundarbans – is a complex ecosystem comprising one of the three largest single tracts of mangrove forests of the world. Situated mostly in Bangladesh, a small portion of it lies in India. The Indian part of the forest is estimated to be about 19%, while the Bangladeshi part is 81%.

Most likely from Indoneshia and Australia. Also BD sourcing is not ruled out. BD coal is the best in quality.

That's your assumption.

You've got something to back it up with?

Coal from Australia? Indonesia? You obviously have no idea of the magnitude of coal a termal power plant needs every day. Eveery single day.

The mere cost of transportation would render the electricy generated unprofitable and unmarketable.

If I'm wrong on this, I'd really like to enlighten myself.

actually bd coal is pretty bad with lots of emossions.

You are wrong. Just inquire Boro Pukuria coals. Very high quality bituminous coal. YOu need constant watering otherwise it just ignites automatically while in contact with air.

Bangladesh has been importing some 2.0 million tonnes from that country annually.

Australia, Indonesia eyeing BD as new market for coal

Japan import most of its coal from Australia and Indoneshia.
Importing coal is cheaper than importing furnace oil. We are producing electricity out of furnace oil now. Cheaper option if you had no other option.

Still the price of /KWH is quite reasonable for imported coal. Some company already got the work order for 3-4 Tk/KWH. NTPC is doing for 5-7.5 Tk/KWH. Very reasonable, considering the fact that they will be delivering decade from now.

Are these two deals in addition to the deals signed before, or is it finalising those deals ?
