Bangladesh seek to reverse result of Asia Cup final

BCB spokesman is saying they do not want to change the result or get the cup this way, people got a wrong impression about the complain and the media showed it in a wrong way. They say its just a symbolic protest against these kinds of behavior on the field which can be disastrous for any any team.
No it's a lame excuse for their incompetence.I bet the reaction would have different if Pakistan had lost and Pakistan complained about Mashrafee blocking Afridi ( which was intentional as he could see Afridi running back towards the stumps where as Cheema was not seeing the batsmen as he was looking at the other side).

Actually there IS a rule by ICC which BGB is trying to use. Funny to see the apologetic comments by PDF-Bangladeshis! I'm sure any other country's citizens, including India and Pakistan would stand behind their board.

You Indians Shamelessly back every wrong doings by your country Not Us.

What is with this crap now. The BCB is truly retarded and is bringing politics into sports. They @ssholes
have ruined all appreciation a praises we received from the legends of cricket. I guess this BAL
gov want to break off relations with PAK to please their ego. This shameless assholes are a curse on our country.:hitwall:

They are justified to call us sissies after this shameless act. But don't think ordinary BDs are like that, just visit this link
Breaking news :
and you would know how ordinary BDs are reacting to this. Its really embarrassing.

Pakistanis here are over reacting not watching the good will of Bangladeshi brothers on PDF. I Denounce It. We All should no that it's Awami League in Bangladesh who is ruling and is an Indian Stooge. Do Not Curse Bangladesh as a Nation, Please !!!

If it is so , then they should have included Afridi's blocking issue with this. I think there is some pressure from within too and some sportsman spirit exist somewhere.
No he also mentioned this kinds of things usually happen with smaller teams and Pakistan is certainly not a small team.

ICC and ACC both have rejected the point of view of BCB.According to these cricket bodies the BCB is not well aware with the affairs and the game of cricket.

Bangladesh Cricket Board changes tone on the Asia Cup final saga

Bangladesh News: ICC rejetcs Bangladesh's appeal

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has suddenly changed their tone on the Asia Cup final saga.

Couple days ago the BCB was over-hyped to send a letter for a 5-run penalty against Pakistan as they felt that in the final over of the Asia Cup final, Pakistani fast bowler Aizaz Cheema deliberately obstructed the field while Bangladeshi batsman Mahmudullah Riad was taking a run.

But suddenly things changed. Yesterday it was cleared from a statement from BCB. They said that they didn't want to revise the decision. They just sent an official letter to ICC & ACC just to let them know that the officials (Umpires) needed to be more careful. They have noticed it but they didn't take the required action or proper steps. This is kind of off topic but we all know how always some close decisions went against us in near past. So what this letter can do is, ICC can review this and inform the umpires to be more careful from now on.

Meanwhile it is known that the ICC has rejected BCB’s appeal to reverse the result of the final of the Asia Cup.

1.That's settled, thanks to the immense public pressure. I understand the players themselves had been pretty upset and had threatened to speak out to the press.

2. It is also becoming clear that this was another scheme to keep Pakistan out of international cricket.

believe it or not its happens in every game, even bengla does it, it has done it, saying that bangla doesnt do it is aload of crap, bangla bowler mashrafe did it against afridi, its not a big deal afridi didnt demand 5 runs, he didnt even complain to the umpire, just told the bowler to be extra cautious

but to cry a river over it and make it an scapegoat for you loss is just down right pathetic which no word can define

quote from that thread:
This is the stupidest thing I ever heard. I think it has more to do with BCB-PCB politics than the game itself and marks a new low both on how BCB officials do businesss and in relationships between two boards. I don't buy that this is a simple bad umpiring issue. If that were the case, BCB would have arranged for UDRS given our experience with the umpiring.

This is Cheap and Backdoor !!!

No he also mentioned this kinds of things usually happen with smaller teams and Pakistan is certainly not a small team.

Who mentioned that it happens with small teams and certainly a test playing team is not a small team, by no means BD is an inexperienced team cause they are playing international cricket for more than a decade. Yes they may be relatively less competitive against other test playing countries for obvious reasons. With recent performance BD has nullified this concept also, they seem to be more consistent, non dependence on key players, better fielding side than atleast Pakistan. What all they lack was taste of big match win which they will definitely taste in days to come. Had they not taken third run on over throw by wicket keeper in last over the result could have been different.

ACC rejects Bangladesh collision claims

Dhaka: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Monday rejected a complaint from Bangladesh that Pakistani pacer Aizaz Cheema deliberately blocked their batsman Mahmudullah Riyad in the last over during the tense chase in the Asia Cup final.

Chasing 237 for a victory in the Asia Cup final in Mirpur last week, Bangladesh fell short by two runs as they needed four from the last delivery. And the BCB had later appealed to the ACC about Cheema indulging in unsporting behaviour.

Bangladesh claimed that Aizaz Cheema (extreme left) deliberately blocked their batsman Mahmudullah Riyad.

But the complaint was rejected as the ACC claimed that the incident was not reported by on-field umpires.

"We had received Bangladesh's complaint but since the incident was not reported by the on-field umpires nothing can be done," Ashraful Huq, the chief executive of the ACC, told AFP.

Ashraful, himself a Bangladeshi national, also said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had also turned down the complaint.
"

It could have happened then and there, in the final but since umpires and match-referee did not take any action then, so the matter is closed," said Ashraful.

"I think the Bangladesh team played so well in the whole tournament, beating India and Sri Lanka - World Cup 2011 finalists - was no mean achievement and although they lost the final, the Bangladesh team won millions of hearts," he added.

The BCB had earlier said that it was planning to appeal with the ACC to award five penalty runs to the Bangladesh team and reverse the result of the Asia Cup final.

"We have repeatedly seen video recordings of the incident and are convinced Cheema tried to block Mahmudullah," Enayet Hossain Siraj, the chairman of the BCB cricket operations committee, had told reporters earlier.

ICC rules state that if a player is found to have blocked his rival deliberately while completing a run, the batting side is awarded five penalty runs and if a run-out has happened during the course of it, it is not given.

The delivery itself is not to be counted but the run will be accounted for even if the batsmen have not crossed each other. But whether the blocking was done deliberately is decided by the on-field officials.

Question is: Why did BCB made *** out of themselves? :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:
