What's new

Bangladesh ranks (86th) ahead of India (103rd) and Pakistan (106th) in Global Hunger Index

Who gives a sh it about western propaganda...
India has 70 million people under poverty and those 70 million people get everything almost free ( BPL card holders) and who gives a sh it about propaganda surveys

Good for you. You need not to post here.

I find it weird that sometimes people care enough to say that they don't care. Quite a conundrum.

Ignore it. Job done for you.
If you believe there are no malnourished people in India, no one goes to bed hungry, it's totally your choice.

Great!! India has no poverty and hunger then. Ask your government to protest the report.

Also, tell me how can Bangladesh, who production of foodgrains, fruits, sugar and vegetables are less per capita than India's production, have lesser hunger than India?
Bangladesh produce not much sugar, but Bangladesh is 4th largest rice producer, 4th largest fresh water fish producer, 3rd largest vegetable producer, 7th largest fruits producer in the world. And who said per capita production of foodgrain, vegetables in Bangladesh less than India? Check FAOSTAT data. Our per capita cereal grain, vegetables, fish production is higher than India. I am not sure about fruits.

But the main problem is not about production, but the buying power of the poorest. Some rich countries in the world are entirely or heavily dependent on importing foods from foreign countries, but they have minimal or no hunger.

Bangladesh has 18 crore population and the food grain production is higher than India per capita. But, India also produces plenty of sugar, cotton and vegetables as the food grain production is in surplus and hence can't be used beyond a point. India only uses 65% of land for grain production as there isn't demand for grains more than that.

Sugar production is also important as it has high carbohydrates. So is vegetable production for its vitamins and proteins:

Bangladesh does not produce enough pulses, vegetables etc. India has excess production because of which 35% of the land is non food grain production like sugarcane, pulses, oil seeds, cotton, banana, vegetables etc which you are conveniently ignoring.

The poorest get extremely subsidised rice, wheat and sugar in ration shops at cost of less than 5% of market price. There is no problem of that either.

Good enough for you?
Not good enough as the methods of measuring stuntedness, undernourishment is not mentioned. Also, mixing up medical deficit in infant mortality rates with hunger is meaningless

Ohh but we BDeshis are lower meat consumers vs even show bob and vegan indians. Surely that means something right? India FTW!

Bangladesh's freshwater fish production is almost same as India. Bangladesh ranks third while India 2nd.
Overall fish production India produces five times that of Bangladesh.
Same with Cereal. India produces five times that of Bangladesh. Per capita wise Bangladesh produces more.

Fruit production, India produces around 20 times that of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is still tenth largest fruit producer though, India being in top.

Bangladesh also has subsidized rice for poor. 10 taka per kg rice.

One very important thing to consider, is Bangladesh doesn't really export food stuff. While India does. Heck half of Onions and Potatoes in Bangladesh are imported from India. Tons of fruits are imported from China, India and Thailand nowadays.
Another thing you are forgetting is, India being a huge country compared to Bangladesh, naturally much more food gets wasted in India.

From wiki:
The data and projections used for the 2017 GHI are for the period from 2011 to 2016—the most recent available data for the four components of the GHI. The data on the proportion of undernourished come from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and include authors' estimates.[5] Data on child wasting and stunting are collected from UNICEF, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, WHO, MEASURE DHS, the Indian Ministry of Women and Child Development, and also include the authors’ own estimates.[GHI2016 2] Data on child mortality are from the UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation.[6]

Well my source was these news report which claimed Bangladesh 3rd. These report consider potato to be a part of vegetable, Bangladesh is quite high in potato production. So may be that's how they calculated Bangladesh to be 3rd in vegetable production.

I have checked FAOSTAT data, and yes Bangladesh is not 3rd in fresh vegetable production. You should give reference to FAO or USDA data when it comes to agriculture. These website you have posted are not reliable.

The problem is here:

The estimate of author is the problem here. That is why we have hard time believing in these things

. .
So now we have to believe westerns again on who is hungry and who is not ::::: ANd guess what they did not enter there own countries ,,,, I saw hungry people in 4 western countries , I saw NGO's kitchen providing them food ,,,, What a hypocrisy ……
And Why do I believe that Pakistan is on number 106 < Why do I believe them , When "THEY" don't even know the Flag of Pakistan.

Pretty much every stats have some estimates to it.
Your population is not an exact its an estimate too.
Problem here is that there is no scientific methodology to measure subjective parameters like malnourishment. Measuring number of people is rather direct. So, there the bias comes in
