Bangladesh not Ready to Give Transit to India

Bangladesh members - Leave out all the fanboy stuffs from both Indians/Bangladesh members - What is the reason behind not providing the transit route to India? Isn't it a win/win for both India and Bangladesh? I tried finding out the reason in the internet but did not come across a proper article.

If you leave out the fanboyz from BD, not many will be left to answer.

The reason why there is transit issues is because of underdeveloped infrastructure. Indians want to pay for transit that is hassle free. With the current state of roads in BD already used to its capacity, more pressure on infrastructure will destabilize and result in choked traffic + chaos. The Hasina Govt. in power believe that the opposition will use this opportunity to create unrest. This is the actual reason.

Our largest export market is EU followed by US, idiot. Our total export is $$ 25 bn but export to india is not even 500 million. Do you see how minuscule india is to us.

Teesta is our international right. And china is our friend. People don't beg to friends.:china:

And it is our international rights to build dams on our rivers, just look how much Pakistan is helpless for Kashmir dams.

1. Corridor, Transit and Connectivity are different jargon we keep hearing. Meaning and implication of each is different. India really aims at getting a Corridor. Like the famous Berlin Corridor belonging to the Allied powers after Germany was divided.

2. It is not only against BD's interest but has ominous fall out in case India got any excuse/right to pass through our territory by land, air or sea. For one thing, we loose a huge captive market. Although India uses various jugglery to deny us this market officially, smuggling more than makes up.

3. However, acceding to such access amounts to betrayal of the NE freedom-fighters. As long as Eastern and NE India is ruled from Delhi, we and they are under the same potential threat to our sovereignty, economy and culture. Today is a proper day to remember this because we, the people of eastern sub-continent, had lost our sovereignty exactly 255 years back to the English Co.

However you want to dress up and call, giving a facility/infrastructure to move goods from west Bengal towards north east and vice-verse is what was on the table. Irrespective of word play, that is that.

For one thing, we loose a huge captive market.
And which one is that? Do you really think that BD can getaway with smuggling for long? Every nation plugs holes in to illegal transit of goods and if India wants to hurt BD badly then forget about what your current export gives you.

I think Awami dalal has already let India use Bd's territory as corridor. It's a unofficial gesture by Awami dogs to it's master.

Awami dogs keeping this fact secret to Bd population because otherwise Awami dogs will die like dog on the street by the furious mobs. Nevertheless, transit or no transit, Awami has done enough damage to die like dogs in near future.

There is a difference between “Bangladesh not yet ready to give India transit” and “Bangladesh not Ready to Give Transit to India”. Modified title

I am more attracted to these parts of the news
‘If we can build a deep seaport, it will not only expand trade with India but also in the region,’

Asif said that re-export had the potential to facilitate trades with landlocked Nepal, Bhutan and the north-eastern provinces of India.

However may the 'Bangladeshi' PDF member want bad relationship with India, Both the major political parties of Bangladesh are for strategic relation between India and Bangladesh.

Do you mean AL dogs have dug underground tunnels through which they are allowing their masters to transit? Otherwise, if we believe your propaganda, we should be able to see those Indian traffics. Perhaps you are using high US technology to scan the streets of BD from your cool apartment there. USA is an excellent country.

The solution may be the development of the infrastructure by Indians on long term loans (20-30 years) or on BOT by Indian companies..but to give 10 billion dollars as aid in addition to the transit fees is just unrealistic.

We do not have to improve our communications infrastructure in order to facilitate an Indian traffic. If and when, which I doubt will ever going to happen, there is a transit treaty India must be ready with a minimum of $10 billion in cash money so that we can build a good infrastructure.

Bangladesh does not spend the way India and Pakistan spend their hard earned money on military while poor Indian farmers commit suicides and many Pakistanis remain without jobs. Our military spending is only 6.8% of the budget, very insignificant comparing to our neighbours.

6.8 pc?
Thats more dude.. Last time we spent only 2pc of our GDP for defence..
