Bangladesh: No Defence Procurement from US for Now

but how will F-18s and J-10Cs communicate with each other ? they have different datalink and IFF systems. i am certain US will not allow us to mess with their datalinks+IFF and comms. the french will be more lenient on this issue given their past history of arms sales. i suggest J-10C + Rafale
The F-18s will serve the role of what Mig-29s do now- flying on parades.

If we are forced to get that combo, the core of BAF will be J-10.

Anyway, who are we kidding, we will still fly F 7 in 2060.

Full integration cannot be achieved. We will need seperate AEW&C aircraft but would have to achieve some form of integration at the commad centre and for IFF. We can learn from the Pakistanis in this regard.

A better option would be Gripens IF we can obtain ToT & MRO from Saab AND dozens of spare engines for mothballed storage.
Unfortunately, BAF is not capable of being pragmatic or arm twisting bureaucrats enough to pull this off.

Don't see the US installing BNP - too inept.
It will be a third party - either a Saudi aligned Wahabi/Salafist nutjob circus or a Muhammad Yunis type intellectual crowd.

It will have to be BNP, to legitimize an installed govt, they will need public support. BNP has that support, other parties don't.

Tarique Zia has been in London for a while now, enough time to make necessary arrangements. No wonder BNP spoke out against Russia.Guess who else fled to London and now coming back to power through US support? Nawaz Sharif.

We aren't Egypt that US can get away with installing a military ruler. People of Bangladesh are weird and complicated. We know nothing of democracy and yet don't want to see military in power either. We are okay with Sheikh Hasina acting as dictator, and the illusion of democracy, but not okay with military men in power.

Good , BAF can make money by doing Vietnam war re-enactment.

Tareque would rather enjoy his comfortable life in London than to risk coming to BD and eat jail-er-bhat. They literally put BKZ in prison and BNP couldn't do anything.

I'd put my money on a Islamist crowd. The country is increasingly moving in an Islamist direction. This coupled with displeasure with BAL politics can propel an Islamist crowd to power, perhaps in alliance with BNP. Not that I would endorse such a backward stride but this seems feasible.

If vempi gamat come to power in BD, we are well and truly doomed.

The BAL government in early years committed a lot of excesses in order to hold onto power.

Should BNP come back to power, the vicious cycle, that ended 10 years ago and allowed for BD to develop, will continue.

In fact, BNP will repay BAL the favour fivefold and eventually we'll be back to the daily hartal BS.

Also, all of this talk coming from BD foreign ministry about we won't buy this and that is just hogwash.. it's meant to allay fears of the general public and keep foreign governments, that also have interests in BD, guessing as to which side the BAL government is picking in this fight.

Also from what limited knowledge I have it's clear to me that this is a classic stalling tactic by the BD government, somehow they think biding their time will get them a better deal. Maybe it will but that remains to be seen.

The only silver lining here is that the BD government is trying it's level best to balance it's relations with all the big players and should it succeed in this endeavour BD stands to gain alot.

BAL would just make somekind of deal with HEI like they did in 2018. They would rather make some concessions from a position of Strength than be forced by the Yankee and lose power. They believe in self-preservation at all costs

Yeah, despite all the faults of AL there is no doubt they are doing this maneuvering to keep an independent foreign policy, credit where it's due.

Delay tactics if can be successfully pulled off will give us time to ride this off. Who knows how the international politics will turn. I hope Russia massively escalates Ukraine war so US and NATO totally get consumed by the war. Their ability to weaponize dollar and arm twist smaller nations with sanctions will reduce significantly.

You dont seem to know much about egypt do you

You are no threat to US/western interests. Why would they install a military puppet ruler? I can promise you the day Bangladesh even dreams about being a threat to US interests. They would put you back in place or get us to do it.

It's not a matter of threat. It's about which camp BD lies in and how it may impact US's interests.

If you have followed the thread, then you will see that US has increased it's meddling in BD lately, as now having influence over BD is of strategic interest to US. To what extent they will go depends on how much they really want BD to be in their camp.

Regime change is a last resort, but something not unheard of in this part of the world. Especially seeing what just happened in Pakistan.
