Bangladesh moves to make technical education compulsory in every school

The same is kinda true in good ol USA. Its a rarity that average students would want to pursue a vocational field of study. Parents of students who find school challenging, get in trouble, and/or suffering from ADD put them in vocational schools hoping they will have some skills to earn a living.

Ever wondered why car mechanics in the U.S. are such knuckleheads !

Yeah I knew for a while that car mechanics in the US aren't exactly the bright talented stars in US society.

They all sort of backed up into these backup careers like welding and car repair. But for lower middle class families in the US this is a lot more honorable than say, becoming a drug junkie and a flunkie.

Too many US kids fail this simple life-test and go into drugs, and eventually, incarceration.

But we don't usually have this problem in Bangladesh. Thankfully society is still kind of stable and tight-knit, with peer and societal pressure a big factor. People in Bangladesh still want to work and earn an honest living.

while i agree she was an incompetent ****... do you have credible proof to back up your statement?
I am not holding any information on my computer but have you ever not questioned yourself why she was visiting all the time. Today this country, tomorrow another, the day after tomorrow yet another-------it was just like that. There was a time when the press people asked her about the necessity of so many foreign trips. She answered as usual like another BD irresponsible minister.

And, this time she is talking just like another street man about technical education. Has she ever stated what steps she is taking now to make that happen in January 2021 only one year from now? Is anything big like possible in just one year? She should have stated what program she has taken until now to make it happen in Jan. 2021.

She is as vague as her Peer Hasina Bibi. Hasina will build jet planes and Dipu Kumari will introduce a new curriculum to create scientists for the jet plane program. Not bad but just like BD style. Always putting the cart in front of the horse.

This is a problem with all third world country, no accountability and being as vague as possible. Nothing new

Auto mechanics can make good money in USA if they can serve their customers right. The labor rates at an independent shop is $80-100 an hour, at a car dealer $125-150 and at a luxury car dealer $180-225. The independent mechanic owning his own shop can easily make $400-500 a day from labor alone, parts bring in an extra of 30% margin, unfortunately most of the owner don't understand the business aspects resulting in failures.
Decent auto mechanics working for dealers make between $50-80 k a year.
Blue collar service industry in Bangladesh still does not produce the pay similar to a white collar job.

One of the reason Bangladeshi youth are becoming militants is unemployment. When you have no work you get depressed with life and start to think about religious extremism in order to get out of depression.

Bangladeshi education system is such that once you become graduate you become jobless for 3 to 4 years in many cases. Not only education system should be blamed but less opportunity should also be blamed.

Being jobless graduate is absolutely worthless . Being a job holder with minimum education is more of pride.

Technical education should have been made compulsory many years ago. General education after HSC should be abandoned.
