Bangladesh framing India-like rules to administer tariff preferences

Please do not concern yourself with which you know so little of.

All Bangladeshi members of the sub forum here are VERY well aware of what we assemble from Chinese subassemblies, and those don't go to India. We are not in the business of fakery like in India.

Indian customs folks are the most diehard kanjoos and prejudiced people and it is quite impossible to fool them with fake rules of origin.

Sometimes if something is 100% made in Bangladesh, they still stop import of those in India, saying it is made from Chinese parts. The desperation is unbelievable.

Please keep your bakwaas to yourself.

Bangladeshi cellphones are sold in India because they are made from scratch (even motherboards are made locally). Unlike your Indian cellphones which are made from low-grade Chinese parts. They make high grade parts in China too, but Indian kanjoos baniyas won't source them.

In fact Bangladesh govt. is implementing same rules-of-origin BS that your country now has. So no more Indian cellphones will be brought into our shores made from Chinese parts.

Indian baniyas tried their best to stop Bangladeshi products, but if it is better quality (legit fact) and costs 33% less than Indian products, then the Indian customer gets a bargain. Kanjoos Indians love it. Win-win. Only the Indian baniya loses.

TV's, refrigerators, washing machines, cellphones - you name it. All exported from Bangladesh to India now.

These are the 600 liter refrigerators Bangladeshi families mostly buy locally (culture is different, we store a lot of food, esp. meat). All made locally. Will satisfy Indian rules of origin. Sold locally for about Tk. 80,000.

I am sure Indian Muslims will understand the difference.

The lowest size bought in Bangladesh is about 300 liters.

And these are the fridges sold in India by brands like Godrej mostly (around 170 liters). Chhota mota items.

Bangladesh sells these sizes in India too, but way better quality. 100% made in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshis will NOT buy these one door cheap Godrej contraptions. Not ever. Prestige issue.

Here is a two door walton exported to India. also 170 liter.

Doing business with baniyas is like having sex with your dead grandma.
Walton refrigerators are top tier. Can't complain.
Seen paint swell up due to moisture in production but that was like 15-20 years ago. Don’t know how they’re rn

They're very very good, no bias... We have two at our home in BD... Dozens in our extended family, no issues whatsoever.

Oh really? What a pathetic liar you are. Just recently you flooded our markets with air conditioners the components of which were made in china and you just assembled in Bangladesh by walton.
We did the right thing, let them believe they make everything inhouse and don’t import anything, the same Chinese companies also tell that their phones are manufactured in India while they only assemble imported components here.

Bought two, a mid sized one and a large one. This was in 2013 and 2017. Both still running, both of the quality is alike to my ones here in Bidesh. ; )

Well if you are blind like an andh-bhakt and are not capable of watching videos, what can be done. I did not see one trace of any Chinese part in that video. Of course one needs minimum aptitude to understand the production process....

Honestly I doubt a lot of bhakts can afford Walton fridges in India - they are middle tier if not top tier product there. Go buy Godrej garbage....

Back in 2016 I told my mom to get a Walton but she got this fancy sharp fridge… eh well next time
Bought packs of Cadbury chocolate variety packs and stored them in the fridge in BD (Aug time), guess what all of them smelt like hutki and gur

By the way here is Walton compressor plant. Used in their own refrigerators and aircons.

Some of these Indian politicians and Customes folks probably don't believe BD is capable building a PCB from scratch and then make a mother board out of that PCB.

If they believe in their heart that 20 million BD folks are in India, then my theory is not too far fetched !

Exactly. Your logic is irrefutable. :-)

This is just the start. Let's wait and see....

Indians (most of them) support modi and his ideology. they have one and only friend in south east asia that is bangladesh and they are doing everything to destroy that.

now lets talk about the policy. we are all may be in favor of retaliatory trade policy. i wonder how certain group will react ???

Modi's cohorts are trying their level best to influence Indian Dalals in Hasina's cabinet to sway Bangladesh Trade policy so we keep importing Indian garbage scot-free and do not put in any retaliatory non-tariff measures like rules of origin garbage that Indians impose.

However Cabinet members and Dalal MP's are also under influence (equally if not more) by Bangladeshi industrialists and members of the Dhaka Chambers who have interests in protecting our own markets (just like Banyas in India).

It remains to be seen for the immediate future, but long term, Indian imports will face tougher times in Bangladesh as we start getting more and more dependent and self sufficient with our own local products. I suspect tit-for-tat Non-tariff Barrier (NTB) imposition will only increase, not decrease.

The gall of these Indian customs people - they even tried to come visit the factories to verify rules of origin. These chowkidars have gotten quite bold with Hindutva...as if we could not impose our own rules at some point. Let these idiots feel the pain.

It is Indians who stand to lose their fifteen billion dollar a year market in Bangladesh, not us.

We barely export a Billion dollars worth to India every year - they have made sure of it. We have plenty of other export destinations.

With "Phrends" like these, who needs enemies....
