Apart from money in the UN missions, two things also comes along with it.One is war experience and the other is reputation. We need both of it.Though they get little war experience, yet at times they are ambushed. This attributes to their skills.

And of course we need the money,we don't have a strong economy neither we have enough fund to support strong military. If money is coming,so be it.In case you don't know,Bangladesh military and even Pakistan military runs projects like MILBUS(as termed by Ayesha Siddiqa),which acts like an enterprise.Pakistan army has the highest number of troops in UN missions. Now did this turn Pakistan army into mercenaries? If you think so,then you better debate with the Pakistani friends here.
As I can see Pakistan army is still aware of its threats and using the money in procurement.

And its not only that we are only buying BTR-80s.Last year we procure a significant number of Mi-17s.Now these are necessary for our military. And they are not even considered in the defence budget,as far as I know.So these are bonus for the army.

Some people think themselves as "Mr.Know it all".You are one of them. That's why we often find them ranting on these boards.
Or you are just too jealous of our country's success.May be because it isn't even your country.....who knows?

First this is not discussion about Pakistan or any other country. This discussion is about Bangladesh. Check the thread. But if you are that desperate to deflect the focus on your dangerous and bankrupt thinking and interested in criticizing Pakistan army then open a thread in Pakistan military section.

On your view:
Having business locally and generate revenue for welfare of armed foces are completely different than relying on foreign sources like UN for money. In Bangladesh "Sena kalyan Sangshta" runs quite a few businesses including Radisson Dhaka. That's not the question or concern here.

If motivation for Bangladesh army UN mission are to gain “war” (by your definition) experience by guarding against some rag tag African guerilla groups and buy few APC then I am sorry to say Bangladesh as my country wasted scarce money and resources on people like you.

Yes, the Honorable Govt. of Pakistan took away all the money and gold reserves from the eastern wing during the last days of war in 1971. We started with only $34 in our Central Bank.

Can anyone say that how long it took to normalize the relation of BD-Pakistan after 1971? When Pakistan set it's high commission in Dhaka after 71?

Pakistan established full diplomatic relations with Bangladesh on January 18, 1976 and relations improved in the following decades..Pakistan and its allies such as People's Republic of China refused to recognize Bangladesh, which in turn demanded an apology for the war crimes committed by Pakistani forces. Pakistan was kicked out of the Commonwealth of Nations in 1972 for its refusal to recognize Bangladesh. Both nations reached an agreement in 1975 in which Bangladesh accepted half of Pakistan's pre-1971 external debt but Bangladesh's claims on receiving half of the country's pre-1971 assets and credit went unresolved. Relations improved considerably under the military regimes of Ziaur Rahman and Hossain Mohammad Ershad in Bangladesh, which had grown more distant from its war ally, India.

First,This thread is not about Bangladesh army being mercenary. But yet you started it and now you are trying to get back on track.Instead of giving me advice, correct yourself first.Pathetic fellow.

May be you don't have any answer to my question.According to you Bangladesh army has become a "mercenary army" because of UN missions.

So what's the status of Pakistani,Indian armies?Have they become mercenaries too?
You are just acting too smart by avoiding to answer my question. They are related,as you are yet to describe on what basis our army can be termed "mercenaries" when they are not.
But you followed your old trait of avoiding to answer.(As if I am surprised  )

Waste of my time.

Yet in post # 24 you boasting about army earning from foreign mission in a foreign exchange thread. As I said Bangladesh as my country wasted money on people like you who can not tell the difference from apple to orange.

I am just exposing your bankrupt babbling. Beyond that it would be question for Pakistani friends to answer how they think of their army, not for me or any foreigner to over step. But if you have guts.go ahead ask that question in Pakistan army section and I will be happay to engage. . I will wait for you to open that thread.

What is the problem if someone cites the sources of our foreign exchange earnings? Like KAMLA (read NRB) remittance and external trade, UN missions are also our source of earning. Is it a crime to cite this truthfully and happily?

But you, as always, have started this negativism about Bangladesh army and have defamed it as mercenary. It is about our country and not about your own country, Burma. Rohingyas should not worry about Bangladesh.

Do not join a discussion on Bangladesh if you do not like that country. Is it a NASAKA plan to derail every thread? You are quite unable to continue a fruitful discussion on any topic. Only thing you are apt at are calling others li---er, dece---ptor and RAWAMY stoo----ge. Now, you have defamed our great army as mercena------ry. Better you get rid of this bad habit of making personal attacks.

UN mission earning is related to the topic "Bangladesh forex reserves top record $10 billion
"

What I posted is very well related to the topic. So stop lecturing me.I know very well what I posted.

And you posted that Bangladesh army is becoming mercenary for UN missions.Which is no where near related to the topic.Try to learn some English and then come back.

I don't doubt about Pakistan army's objectives, and I certainly don't think neither Pakistan nor Indian army have become mercenaries for UN missions. It is YOU who thinks Bangladesh army became mercenaries.I don't need to open any thread on this.I asked the question here, you answer it here Or you open a new thread to prove your point.

If You have GUTS,answer it here OR just shut up and spare us from your Bullshit.

Good for Bangladesh and we Pakistani pray that our brothers will achieve many more milesstones. Best of Luck

.
BD started with $34 as its foreign exchange reserve in 1972. It is $10 billion today. So far so good. But, a continuous upward trend will force the Bangladesh Bank to revalue BD currency. This will eat away our export competitiveness in the world market.

Congrats!!!

But not so good. BD can do a lot batter.
