Bangladesh-China high-speed rail link proposed

China is acting like a responsible power in South Asia and helping the neighboring countries in imporving their infrastructure.

This is really good.

Either you are being nationalistic or simply delusional here.

Look up the Myitsone Dam or the trans Myanmar railway from Kunming. If it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. There is nothing in it for us to allow transit to BD. 'Fraid you're the delusional one on this one. It is unlikely we would allow you to connect with China

Says John Rambo. Myanmar has a LOT to gain from Chinese investments and from being a trading hub for the region's large countries. In general, Asia is realllllly ill suited for isolationist thinking.

I agree. Don't know what it has to so with granting access to BD. That won't happen.

If China wants to connect with BD then Myanmar has no choice in the matter. Got it?

.
Good luck to China. Bangladesh and West Bengal are very densely populated areas and land acquisition could be a big problem. But would love to travel in a hi-speed train. I have been hearing talk of bullet trains in India since I was seven, and now I am nearly thirty.

Port city in Sri Lanka is a submarine base? Lotis tower is a Chinese listening station? That's how.

The standards of road in India is very low. Even the dirt road in countryside is considered as a road according to India.

You did not reply to later part of my post.

And try to google Golden Quadraple.

It's not so simple, Myanmar did cancel Chinese projects previously, and China couldn't do anything about that.

Ermm.

China will become the uncontested power in the region by 2020 and will dominate the Asian mainland by 2025.

No-one, least of all poor and weak Myanmar, will be able to say no to China soon.

Bangladesh is a nation of 156 million people. It's a destination for exports don't you think? At least in the future. It's not ann Indian protectorate or province. Why shouldn't China be able to build rail there? It's not as if they're going to invade a nation of 156 million people. Sure I understand India sees it as it's backyard, but you can't stop economic integration and trade, merely postpone it.

Typical bangladeshi/muslim mentality towards China.

China is already far more powerful than Myanmar, but that didn't prevent Myanmar to reject Chinese proposals several times. Just because China is more powerful doesn't automatically mean that Myanmar has to run as per China's whims.

Umm.. where did India come in..? We have no problems if Chinese are prepared to fund it. That region is full of insurgency and very difficult terrain. Coming to Bangladesh and India, these parts are very densely populated and land acquisition will be a big issue. I am unclear on the economic feasibility also. Anyway this will not be built anytime soon.

Err.

China will become the uncontested power in the Asian mainland by 2025 and a peer to the US by then as well.

I am not trying to insult you but please try to analyse the above sentence and then you will see why Myanmar will soon have to follow the dictates of a superpower that it shares a land border with.

.
India doesn't even have high speed rail in it's own country, let alone building it on foreign lands. India must embrace these plans and not block them. Trade and connectivity is the future. India will surely catch up quite soon. Let's hope they don't block these things just because it's not them who build it. Heck, India should let China build high speed rail lines from China into India. Join each other at the hip. That'll force solutions to border disputes and boost growth significantly. And also cut outside negative influence.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.:sick::rofl:
