Bangladesh celebrates Rabindra, Nazrul birth anniversary at Islamabad mission

Pakistanis respect various cultures. Sikh cultural heritage can be found in Lahore as well as Hindu culture in parts of rural Sindh. Pakistanis have nothing agaisnt Bangali culture but it's the Bangladeshis who are vigilantes and attack anything Pakistani. A young Pakistani was assaulted in Dhakka and humiliated by a Bangali nationalist at a book fair. If the Bangladeshis so not want to respect other cultures then why should Pakistan respect the Bangladeshis?

Most Bangladeshis also have respect for Pakistani culture, hell a significant minority of Bangladeshis spend a good portion of their time reminiscing about East Pakistan . In the heat of debate and argument it often becomes mud slinging in which Bengalis will insult Pakistan and Pakistanis will insult Bangladesh, but usually it's nothing personal. You are from Britain like me so you should know how close our diaspora communities are.

faced prejudice from a Bangladeshi. Even though he was born and bread in the UK he still had to bring the 1971 war up which didn't bother me at all as I had nothing to do with it. On many occasions he got very personal when he regularly mocked Pakistanis who were victims of terrorism. Each time a terrorist incidents occurred he was jubilant, happy and said Pakiatan deserved it. Finally when it become increasingly nasty I cut all contacts with him. He took mockery to a new low laughing at victims of terrorism. Never did I once mock the victims of the liberation war.

I don't know man I'm sorry for your experience, maybe the guy was generally just a cnut you get them everywhere, because to celebrate terrorist attacks in general is quite a disturbing thing regardless of the context. In my experience there's usually some harmless banter between Pakistanis and Bengalis usually involving fish jokes and other stereotypes. I hope you have more positive experiences with any other Bangladeshis you've met or will meet,

Pakistanis in general are unfairly viewed in a negative manner. Some people may have had a bad experiences with them or heard such stories which create a sense of animosity and deep rooted prejudice towards them. One such area are the recent arrests of Pakistani heritage gang members involved in sexual exploitation of white British girls. It is of unfortunate that all members of the community are labeled and humiliated as the criminals. However whenever anyone foreign travels to Pakistan they are pleaseny surprised as the native people are very humble and hospitable. A prime example are the Sikhs. Despite the grave ancient hostility between the two groups each year thousands of Sikhs from across the world travel to Pakistan to visit their ancient historical temples. on arriving they find a huge warm welcome and are treated with great respect from the locals. when I travelled to three major cities in Pakistan the people are actually very quiet, simple and mind their own business. It's certainly nothing what the media makes them out to be.

I don't view all Bangladehis to be the same. A female relative is happily married to a Bangladeshi man. I prayed Salah behind a Bangladeshi student/imam for 2 years. My father briefly worked for a Bangladeshi at his Restaurent. I've previously mentioned on other posts many marriages are occurring between Pakistanis, Indian Muslims and Bangladeshis. This is becoming a common trend. The younger generation seem to get on well which is good for future generations to come. My previous statment was in response to the citizens of Bangladesh how people like Imran Sarker who held a huge rally in Dhakka in 2013 burnt the Pakistani flag outside the Pak embassy. These unfortunate incidens further strain relations between the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

During my decade-long residency in Dubai, my most close friends were Pakistanis. We studied together at university to checking out girls to playing football to going for road trips. Never have any historical event been a topic of our discussion. Hence, I have mostly had very good experience with these bunch. Point to be noted here is that all of them were born and brought up in the Middle East and are not resident local Pakistanis. That might explain the difference in their much open mentality.

Furthermore, I taught 2 high school brothers while living in Dhaka, whose mother was a Pakistani and father Bangladeshi. They speak fluent Bengali, English and even Urdu. Very well behaved chaps. This also shows the reality is different to what is portrayed on media/online forums in general.

This is a reason why I take most Pakistanis on this forum with a grain a salt, because I have first-hand experience with them outside the virtual world and mostly have been positive. Anyone can act macho behind a keyboard and sprout illiterate nonsense, which most users here do.

People from Pakistan have no issue or hatred towards Bangladeshis. When I visited my relatives in Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Faisalabad I asked some of their points of view regarding Bangladesh and India, the response was typical 'they have their own country like we have Pakistan'. That was pretty much about it, no abuse, no racist remark, no real animosity and not surprisingly not even hatred towards Indians. There are videos posted on YouTube about Pakistanis view of Indians and all of the participants share their opinion in a mature respectable manner. Watch the Indians students view of Pakistanis and alot of it is racist, degrading abusive language. The talk of war and killing Pakistanis. I am aware the Indians point of view has nothing to do with Bangladesh but the reaction from Pakistanis is still a good will gesture towards India and Bangladesh.
