Bangladesh approves law to protect Hindu religious property

Bd had this famous law called enemy property act/vested property act which enabled the govt to take land owned by Hindus if it doesn't have direct inheritors(or something along the line).

In India waqf board takes care of land owned by Muslims.

Run in all the threads of PDF wearing a Khaki Chaddi and waving a stick and i might answer you , specially after the bootlicker comment .

Height of idiocy :omghaha:, when 90% majority is enjoying the same type of laws since British era and when one does justice by granting same type of laws of to remaining 9% then it's deemed special rights by hyper sickularists appeasers .:omghaha:

Read about Laïcité moron before you talk about Secularism . Secularism has Nothing to Do with Religion . ANything to do with religion is not secularism no matter how much you sugarcoat and candy wrap it .

This Pseudo-Secularism , a gift of Britishers has ruined us and basic idea of Secularism completely .

Agreed this pseudo secularism sucks , but we ain't living in hypothetical world. In realistic pseudo secular world at least we can look for equality and any sane logical brain would see this law in the direction of equality not as special rights which you pointed out.

Equality of religions is not Secularism it is equal disdain towards every religion . Just because you were a religion up your sleeve should not give you any special rights ( read religious rights) When will people understand it ??

And it is not Hypothetical . French are practicing it and so are a few other countries .

More you make laws and amendments based on religions , more you get away from Secularism .

Can someone with local knowledge of BD explain why this law is even needed?

Surely the constitution already guarantees the property rights of both Muslims and Hindus alike.

Is it a case of not actually enforcing current laws than any deficit in legal protection for Hindus?

Don't you think this there should be singular law which protects the lands and places of worship of every faith afterall we are not atheist and you shouldn't equate secularism to atheism.

A very welcome step...it would have been even better (and politically correct) if there is a single law protecting all religious properties instead of segregation like Hindu, Muslim, etc. :)
