Ban on imports bearing fruits, Chinese Investors making tile factories in Pakistan

Look at the bright side... Atleast people will get employment.

I am a Pakistani and I will look at interest of my country first. Before quoting my post look at my signature, in addition I don't appreciate foreign propaganda machine.

I am definitely impressed create few jobs locally, low paid blue collars screw the country economy and take hefty profits out of the country in the form of repatriation.

Out of frying pan into the fire, at-least one will burn faster that the positive way to look at it.

Chinese appoint chinese nationals at top positions in their companies in Pakistan and most of Pakistanis do lower level jobs so we must promote our own investors and overseas Pakistanis for developing new industries

Yeah and the best thing is where they work and stay all stray dogs, cats, rats, snakes, cockroaches, spiders, lizards, pigs, boars somehow disappear.

Thats true, but then western companies are not investing in Pakistan as much as China does, isn't it?
We should improve relations with west and promote them to invest in Pakistan.Even Pakistani companies have better environment than chinese companies as they employ our own citizens at top positions and also give more allowance to workers

You are A Pakistani. You are neither THE Pakistani. Nor ALL Pakistani. A nation is made of all its citizens.

These are wishes my friend.
All of us have to operate under burden of reality. We have to make best of the condition we are put into. Currently China is the only reliable partner of Pakistan. Be it diplomacy, finance, military or strategic interest.

Ps: I hate Chinese, if you look hard enough in this forum you will find my posts about them. But I consider myself a realist.

.
Good but Pakistan and pakistanis should support local industries too

There is the other side, the machinery will be imported via LC from china through "Forex"

One time import for few years.

Raw material mostly will be imported from China via LC from china through "Forex"

I dont think so. Pakistan is rich in raw materials. we need to produce end manufacturing products. That is what really happened here.

Why this much hate towards China?First all of those things you mentioned are very common in China, Second China didn't hurt Pakistan as far as I remembered, taking Pakistan's interest first doesn't mean insulting other countries which didn't harm Pakistan in any way.

Instead of appreciating others for investing in Pakistan dumb and dumber are actually bitching about the investments in Pakistan.

Raw material mostly will be imported from China via LC from china through "Forex"

Do u have any idea how this works?

once a friend of mine offered 3 years old italian machinery for tile manufacturing it was under 100,000 euros. Production capacity was enormous and it was modular and flexible in terms of tile size.

Just the Land&building plus the utilities connection not to mention other requirements alone will cost well north of 100,000 euros.

Repatriation of profit will be allowed, on the front page of B.R there is a news item with caption "Repatriation of profit exceeds FDI" unlike rest of the financial experts I abhor FDI this is a long term loss to Pakistan, unless we have restrictive agreement like 50% of the profit should be spend in Pakistan, CSR fund, R&D fund, etc but knowing Pakistani politicians and bureaucrats I don't think they have that kind of vision.

Better option is to setup a Govt institute where they train and motivate designers and entrepreneurs in this area, the machinery is not very expensive; once a friend of mine offered 3 years old italian machinery for tile manufacturing it was under 100,000 euros. Production capacity was enormous and it was modular and flexible in terms of tile size.

Govt has taken a positive step in training freelancers and as the stats come our freelancing led revenue is growing exponentially, same model could be replicated here.

That is one issue I also tell my friends and colleagues. We need more local corporates so that more profit can be retained inhouse instead of being repatriated.

Overall the industrial growth has been minimal (relative to other asian countries).

We need significant revamp of local equity capital raising ability (especially for SMEs) by changing local laws.

Further the local seths need to realize that their businesses can only run for 2 generations at most if they stick to their current practice without revamping their management and capital raising model. They are foregoing sales volume because they want to be a partnership/sole prop entity and avoid taxes. They don't realize that higher sales turnover would ultimately increase their ROE.

If you do understand finance and cash outlays then you would understand its not one time import of machinery; technical support and spares are continuous process.

I know Pakistan is rich in raw material problem is how many MNC/Foreign companies are using that raw material, when I say things related to finance and business I do it on the basis of experience not on the basis of theories and newspapers. Chinese did setup a textile unit in fsb recently all the yarn is being imported and the balance sheet is showing net imports, local sales but repatriation in dollars.

Ahan A finance guy, first thing the local entrepreneurs was with select people from Gujranwala Chamber yesterday, met few industrialists in faisalabad today my take is some of them have realized the importance of education thus their newer generation has much better skills of evaluation, vision and understanding. I don't want to name companies here as this is an open forum, capital for these people is absolutely no issue. Yesterday one guy I met in Gujranwala who invited me to his office, the office was as shitty as it get small, in an old building broken furniture and even sill I am reeling from the shock that he wanted my advise on Rs.23 Billion rupees which he has recently declared in amnesty scheme.

Second problem is once these young ones come with new knowledge and techniques how much freedom they get is another factor, I know one industrialist in Faisalabad (a friend you can say) his son is doing BBA from LUMS which is walking distance from my office, knowing what I do, he made sure that during holiday instead of wasting his time elsewhere he was sort of forced to do an internship with my team. Now we have trained him once he goes back and his dad allows him to he will be one hell of a businessman.

I have been lobbying with my friends/class fellows working in SECP to make regulations for venture capitalism/Private Equity in Pakistan, that's is one of the best ways for raising capital for SME and Medium size commercial ventures. Presented the case many times to various ministries for god's sake invite us the professionals give us your sick units, give us liberty and ten to 15 years let us turn them around and return to you, you know what happens.

But I am absolutely confident that we as a country and as a nation will come out of this bad situation and will be among G20 atleast in the next few decades.

Please do understand we Pakistanis are not mindless drones, we are independent thinkers unlike some of the countries/nations I know who are ruled by one party and every comrade is supposed to toe the party line, we have our opinions and this is a Pakistani discussion forum remember.

China did not hurt Sri Lanka or African countries either it was only when they were trapped neck deep in debt (BRI) that their port were leased out for 100 years that's what I am afraid of. Besides as people and as nation I have nothing against your kind, it is the culture your kind brings is the problem, the Triads and the M6 type and the people you send to our country are the major problem first tier are from your correction facilities mostly those who are termed danger to your society, a fact unfortunately mostly my naiive countrymen don't know. I spend years in the far-east and fought against these Traids and M6 along law enforcement agencies from Japan to china and from china to Singapore and up north, the horrors they bring to each country are beyond comprehension.

CPEC is just couple of years old already multiple Chinese bank skimming criminals have been busted, human trafficking, drugs, prostitution and organ harvesting have been brought to light, what else? Same trend I saw from korea to phillipines, hongkong, macau, indonesia, malaysia, singapore, vietnam, cambodia, laos I dont want that for my country and my people.

Also do understand criticism is not hatred, this is what makes us extremely open minded and tolerant despite the propaganda against us as intolerant, we have our issues but we as nation are among one of the most diverse in terms of genetics, religion, language, ethnicity and our way of thinking, at times we self criticize excessively but to me all these are our strengths.

We as people may seem fighting, arguing among ourselves but whenever a time of challenge comes we are united as a nation.

Very well said. We need to look at ground realities. Keeping trump aside we know china has been taking advantage of US for decades. Their trade gap is huge and china mainly copied everything. We should be careful in Pakistan, chinese are great allies but extremely selfish business people.

A frnd of mine have a factory of plastic mats and stuff in gadoon industrial area. He said 2 yrs ago a chinese group of about 10 came and started a similar plastic plant. Tht family brought their own machinery, their own chinese transport n other vehicles. He sed they did all the work themselves, had never employed a single local. He sed they even brought food mostly frm china and in 2 yrs never even hired a mechanic or plumber locally. Heck they even would fix tyre punctures themselves rather pay 100rs to local. They take all profit back home and essentially giving nothing to Pakistan.
Im a staunch supporter of china but we should also be careful with deals. I agree there should be a law to invest 50℅ profit back in country.

I think stray cats and dog, cockroaches have nothing to do with being open minded, that's just uncalled for insults and nothing more, insulting people meaning no harm is not a strength in most places in the world.

We are also not brainless drones and we know the government doesn't always tell the truth and we choose to ignore it and just do what we believe can give ourselves and families a better life, new ideas and creations are booming in China cause that's where most people put their brains into, Having a brain doesn't always mean trying to blame and criticize others and your government, most Chinese are busy with something more important to them than those.

This was not insult a fact, visited china once due to official business the place is called Yulin, Guangxi there was this dog and lychee festival going I think its was the second iteration of the festival 2010 if I am not missing the date.

Guangdong and Guangxi older people eat cat meat, Yibin china they breed cockroaches for eating. Dog meat is a delicacy in far east korea, china, vietnam I can confirm there are around 1000 shops selling dog meat in hanoi alone.

Already discussed I meet business people in different cities two projects mainly chinese one in Faisalabad one in lahore 3 kms away from my office and both places I have heard the local people talking about their appetite for animals I already mentioned.

I am not arguing just stating facts and wont be talking more on the subject, its just not my cup of tea.

Yulin is a very small place in China and do you know how many animal lover are against Yulin dog meat tradition? People don't generalize a population just because of some small incidents, China also has more animal lovers than all other countries do in population, Yulin is a very controversial issue in China because the local villagers insisted on preserving an old custom and the whole nation wants a ban, if all Chinese are like what you described then there'll be no issues in China, Guangdong and Guangxi are border provinces where people have weird customs which appall most Chinese population, but they are a very small minority.

As for some saying where Chinese people live or stay all the stray dogs and cats, cockroaches, rats .. are gone is indeed an insult, you can start a poll here to see how many think otherwise, all countries have evil people, Pakistan also does, every time when Western countries claim Pakistan a terrorist country China always speaks out against this stereotype, China did invest in Pakistan and send some people working there, but we mean no harm to Pakistan, I would say those insults are uncalled for.

He is just another liberal Pakistani who mistakes himself as an intellectual. Please ignore him. There are always some rotten eggs.

Individuals that talk from the back side of their body, usually talk big without any knowledge, so called financing expert does not know that Pakistan charges super tax on profits and higher corporate tax rates than other respected nations in the area. Not to mention utility rates are also higher than other nations in the area for now and almost non existence supply chain, even after all that if foreign national investing in Pakistan is welcome.

His Avatar shows part of his brains are missing, his post clearly shows his knowledge on financing and or manufacturing are less than zero percent. Him attacking other cultures clearly shows signs of low life or false flag individual.
