In the case of "Vedic" cultural implications in Indian soaps and movies, ...
I find it ridiculous that soaps or references to MangalSutra's will drive Pakistani kids to "shaadi" instead of "nikah"

Allow me to interject in you guys' conversation.
Take the words you just used. That's the exact type of cultural invasion I think some Pakistanis might be talking about. Almost no one is left in Pakistan who knows that the Vedas are spelt Bedas in Urdu, and the word Santro used, Devdaas, is spelt Deodaas. The propriety of our lexicon has been quasi-erased by yours.
Similar problem with shaadi. It simply means happiness. Your son's birthday celebration might be a shaadi event, but you don't retain the etymological link, and now our youth has lost ours.
