You think Mehsud and his ilk are brothers? Those who killed the other innocent brother just for power and also those other unfortunate brothers in uniform?

If you own brother was killed you would not be singing this tune, that is if you are a normal human being!!

I will be frank. I am an Indian and it does matter a fig as to what is happening in Pakistan and how it is burning. But what really gets my goat, even if it is against Pakistan, is the championing of terrorists.

I am all for the unity and stability of any country since that is the prescription for Peace!!

What championing of the terrorists? If the entire Mehsud tribe has a gripe then you want us to take on the entire tribe? Mehsuds do not equal AQ, this is a common mistake, mis-perception that all outsiders tend to make or have.

Mehsuds taking the law into their own hands is an issue that has to be dealt with by diplomacy and force as last resort. I am glad on this count we are not taking advice from outsiders including Indians.

Better to talk and bring these tribes back into the fold so they stop dealing with the AQ types. Not talking has resulted in compromising our own territorial integrity to not only the AQ types who get refuge in the tribal areas but also opening ourselves up to US strikes.

i still think mehsud should have been taken out a while ago, but if talks are an option, we should certainly go ahead with it. things are starting to look a little better in balochistan as well.

mengal will be released and Sarki of the Jeay Sindh movement has been allowed back to pakistan. This is a really big thing. It means these separatist groups will have no choice, but to work with the govt. Jeay Sindh is starting to adopt a federation-based stand, as well as the balochi separatists.

Provincial autonomy should return by the end of the year. Not only will these separatist parties work with the govt. , but they(Mengal, the supposed baloch Nelson Mandela) will also be able to gather support from the balochi population to go against the BLA.

Fine, Mehsuds are not terrorists.

But then, what is this:

Mehsud's drawn unwanted attention to the Taliban's critically important and long-nurtured sanctuary. Nothing comparable exists in Afghanistan. The Taliban can't afford alienating the Pakistani Pashtun tribes nor losing Quetta and their Pakistani networks of supply, arms, drug markets, and banking. Doing so would be comparable to only Zarqawi and the AQI's boneheaded defeat in al-Anbar. In fact, the twin battles of Pakistan and Afghanistan are unsustainable and NOT mirror-image conflicts. Thus, a choice seems to have been made.

Killing Pakistani citizens and soldiers is gripe?

Well, if that is fine with Pakistanis, then who am I to comment?

Though I do wish that such fine Pakistanis as Mehsud who merely have gripes, do a little less of killing fellow Pakistani and destabilsing Pakistan since any upheaval in the neighbourhood will affect the neighbourhood, so I feel.
