Baitullah Mehsud bites the dust, confirmed! :)

Nine CIA drones were hunting Beithullah Mehsud

Washington (PTI): The U.S. had assigned as many as nine drones to hunt down and target Pakistan Taliban chief Beithullah Mehsud as the American officials stuck to their belief that Mehsud was dead.

"It was a dramatic escalation," American officials said, claiming that stepped up surveillance had paid rich dividends when hellfire missiles from a predator drone had caught Mehsud helpless while the 35-year-old warlord was getting a leg massage on the roof of his father-in-law's house.

American officials told CNN Television that the drones had spied a man on the roof of Mehsud's father-in-law's house.

CNN said a woman was massaging the man's leg and the CIA knew that Mehsud had diabetes which often causes pain in the legs.

The TV said CIA officials had authorisation from President Barack Obama to strike Mehsud whenever they had him in their sight.

"That's when the CIA decided to move in and order his killing," the network said.

Although Washington sticks to its claim that Mehsud is dead, top Taliban Commander Hakimullah Mehsud has challenged Pakistani authorities to prove his leader was dead.

In the absence of Mehsud's body, believed to be buried deep inside Taliban's stronghold of South Waziristan, both the U.S. and Pakistani governments have stopped short of confirming his death.

Elmo wold be happy on this :D

Thanks for understanding, tribel pushtoon are patriotic and have right faith on islam , we can turn their loyalities towards Pakistan with discussion and peace deals.

Their loyalities were stamped in favour of Pakistan when they voted for Pakistan in 1947. so there is no question of turning the loyalities.

better our cammandos in civil dress deployed to help local tribel mujahdeen to crush TTP.

Your wish is already granted ;)

Yeah, We should have fought US for a bunch of terrorists.

Personally I think they should put the Taliban on reservations and those that support them...It worked for the American Indians,, should work with premitives like the Taliban and their supporters. The American Indian turned to terrorism 200 years ago,,,,
when they could no longer live in a a bufflo hunting food
gathering society ,they could not adjust to the then modren world and they started terrorising, torturing and murdering ranchers and settlers,,

Americans destroye their food , supply villeges, changed the ones we could, placed others on reservations, exterminated the rest,,

I dont see any reason it should not work for the taliban or any choice in the matter. It clearly evident we cant live in the same world they do....matter of fact that was kind of what Pakistan was trying to do int he Swat area but it didnt work out.

I appreciate your frustration due terrorism but you know there was no insurgency in tribel belt before US attack in Afghanistan, why US attacked on Afghanistan is just reaction of 9/11 wanted to blindly kill the mouse with cannon at any cost.

Hi,

Very interesting---if this the level of thinking----after the u s attack on afghanistan---pakistran's importance increased by athousand folds in and around the region---were there other nations in the region who didnot like that---absolutely yes. They had to find a way to slow down the progression of pakistan.

If there was no insurgency in the tribal belt before---then there was no reason for it to be afterwards----the taliban should have directed their attention at the americans---the other regional powers were not happy with pakistan's position of strength and importance. They planned a startegy, paid money to the Mehsud and had him do theior bidding..

It gets so simplistic when saying that we didnot have terrorist atacks before---we didnot have suicide attacks before---well actually we didnot but then it takes time for the fire that is burning your neighbours house to get to yours.

There is big difference between an insurgency and forcing your ideology at gun point.

Baitullah was all after the money and his fellows were all trick into fighting in the name of Islam.

This fake and weak base of their ideology to fight Pakistan Army has collapsed and today we see his commanders are fighting among themselves to grab those millions of dollars he left.

Now one should ask from where those dollars came.

BTW who knows Hakimullah is also killed.

The reason we never had terrorist attacks or any incidents before 911 was because the Pakistan government had allied and Recognized the government of Taliban in Afghanistan. Our peace/safety came at a moral cost of allowing the people of Afghanistan to live under a bunch of satan worshipers. If Pakistan rejected and didn't recognize the Taliban as a governing body we'd probably have terrorist attacks.

Durran,

ISI/CIA planted talaban regime in Afghanistan for their own intrest, they were never afraid of them, but underetimated Al Qaeda whos agenda was based on extremism , had given free hand to continue operations in our soil.

Agreed, but We also cant deny the fact that our enemies used Musharaf regime to creat kiosk in tribel belt and made them our enemy.

Alhamdulilah, still majority opinion in Pakistan is that we have greatest threat from US .Allah is greatest planner , hoped those who are planning to burn our home with fire will burn themself .

Hi,

We the pakistanis are clueless as to where the threat is originating from----it is not america---please get over it---it is us---we have no clue yet as to how to live being a civilized society.

Allah's planning has nothing to doin pakistan. Look with your eyes and mind---there is no Allah left in pakistan. Allah has left us alone to do our own bidding. This misery is of our own making---to get out of it---we will have to make some tough decisions.

America is not to take the blame for all of our ills.

‘Maulvi Nazir’ among 17 killed in Taliban infighting
* Nazir spokesman says group will not blame anyone until it has confirmed attackers’ identity
Daily Times Monitor

LAHORE: At least 17 members of the Maulvi Nazir faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), including Maulvi Nazir himself, have been killed in fighting with the Baitullah Mehsud group, rival leader Turkistan Bhittani told a private TV channel on Sunday.

“They were hiding behind rocks and, as soon as our people reached there, they opened fire. It was so sudden and quick that none of our men could fire back,” Shaheen Wazir, Maulvi Nazir’s spokesman, told the Reuters news agency via telephone. However, another spokesman, Abdul Haq, told AFP the group was not blaming anyone. “We cannot say whether it was Mehsud’s men or the government that was behind this attack,” he added.

Meanwhile, an intelligence official of the region said Taliban belonging to the Baitullah Mehsud group had also fired rocket-propelled grenades at pick-up trucks carrying Wazir fighters towards Wana. A resident saw the Taliban carrying some of the dead bodies into Wana after the attack, Reuters reported.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009
By our correspondent

MINGORA: Spokesman for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Swat chapter, Muslim Khan, on Tuesday resurfaced after sometime by making a call to the commissioner Malakand Division in Swat and threatened him to stop action against the militants.

Also, security forces arrested eight suspected militants and torched the houses of six others in Qambar and Rahimabad localities near Mingora. Sources said Muslim Khan phoned Commissioner Malakand region Fazal Karim Khattak and threatened him to stop the action against the militants.

The commissioner, in return, asked the militants’ leader to lay down arms, surrender to security forces and face the court of law. The sources said Muslim Khan denied the claims that chief of the Swat Taliban Maulana Fazlullah was killed in the military operation. Meanwhile, two militants were held in Aligrama, one in Kabal, three in Charbagh and another two in Mingora city. Some of those arrested were identified as Hamad, Bahadar Khan, Muhammad Hanif, Ibrahim and Inam.
