The IOC complains about the bad atmosphere at the olympic games in Sochi. Half the seats in the stadium are empty and the russian fans do only cheer for russian athletes and don´t honor the victories of their guests. The IOC-Marketingchef Gerhard Heiberg said the ranks are half empty and the atmosphere is not really enthusiastic.

The president of the world ski foundation Gian Franco Kasper said: "This are games without heart and emotions".

DOSB-Präsident Alfons Hörmann said, that the russian vsitors only celebrate their russian athletes. This games are definitly not on the level of a world competition.

There are so many empty seats now, that the places are given for free...

too much negativity from europeans and americans about this game. they want to say everything is bad.

Exactly.

It's getting ridiculous.

They said the same thing about the Beijing Olympics and the Indian Commonwealth Games... "the audience was mostly empty," most of the seats didn't have anyone in them, they were desperate and giving away free tickets, etc.

Here is an example:

Commonwealth Games 2010: Delhi stadiums full of empty seats | Mail Online

"Spot the spectator: Commonwealth Games already branded a flop with Delhi stadiums full of empty seats."

They just want to find everything bad they can possibly say. No constructive criticism at all.

What you expect? That wae say evrything is great when we don´t like it?

Have you ever heard these sayings?

"If you're going to criticize, be constructive."

"If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all."

What's the point in constantly b*tching about everything, does it serve any purpose apart from putting others down?

Why does sports have to be used as a political weapon?

We want have fun at olympics too. So far we don´t have it yet. The atmosphere is bad and our athletes are not celebrated. We win gold medal and nobody applaudes...thats not very much fun.

delhi was really completely mismanaged, there were very good reason to complain.. about beijing I have not heard any bad thing in western press at least in uk (after the games)
most commentator saying ..will london manage to be as good or better than beijing or screw things up completely (before 2012)...

there was lot of negativity about london 2012 too, many were too skeptic, london will be gridlocked, the whole thing will fall apart.. terrorists will blow things etc etc. but when game started people started to be positive.

But this sochi game, all I hear is negative press, even from bbc, which is mostly balanced.

The games village at Torino Olympics in Italy in 2006 was horrible. The rooms smelt like filth, the food made athletes sick and there were no proper sound barrier between the rooms causing disturbance to the athletes. Get your shit together before criticizing others on trivial issues like low attendance. Lindsey Vonn talking about her horrible living experience at Turin; from 2:00

We talk about olympics now. Not 2006. They are not what we want it too. The Sochi games are so provincial and not world standard. Thats sad.

When you are trying to show your superiority you can't hide from your past failure. Tornino games had horrible living conditions for the Athletes, that's sad. It also had low attendance. The point is people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
