What's new

BackpackingSimon, a German tourist in the northern areas, Pakistan, intriguing vlogs

I was too guilt stricken to ever enjoy anything in Dubai. It is way too superficial for average Pakistanis.

Pakistan offers a natural variety of every landscape imaginable if resources are better managed. I have traveled a bit in Baluchistan and then did a tour way back ten years ago up to the Chinese border. Couldn't manage Swat but last year a good friend traveled extensively in that region and he cant wait to get back.

My next destination is the Pamir ranges to see the Bears. I hope i have better luck than what i had in Hunza Soest and Gilgit to spot leopards.

You know this is exactly how I feel whenever I visit Pakistan. I am amazed at how stupid our people can be. They will visit the most average places all over the world, but don't even know what is lying in their own backyard. Pakistan is an absolute heaven. Gilgit Baltistan, KPK, Baluchistan and so many other places are a paradise. It is just mind boggling.

Just put into perspective foreigners from all over the world spending money and enjoying their trip in Pakistan. That says something.

I guess, you only appreciate something when you don't have it.

As a tourist, first thing I check before going any place is nightlife. No pubs, no tourists.

Sooner pakistan realises, the better

There are different genre, diversified types of tourism...here it is mostly about backpackers adventure tourism or nature, exploration and wanderlust.

What you are mentioning is a diff. genre...

I get it but very few tourists like to do things in isolation. I have seen a lot of backpackers in India who after a day long of exploration hit local bars to chill.
Thats tourism101

Check the local tourism related reports...it is increasing at a fast speed with the decline in terror incidences in the last 4 years or so. Huge increase in local and foreign tourists as well.

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) data showed that international tourists have more than tripled since 2013 to 1.75 million in 2016, while domestic travellers have jumped 30 per cent to 38.3m, the report said.

Right...adventure tourism is different, when you are up in the mountains camping and moving up then the enjoyment is relegated to local music, some folk dance, some local cooked food.

Local bars are pubs are out of media and public views here in some urban city areas of Pakistan.
