Babur and Ra'ad going nuclear capable

Babur and RA'AD will play a significant role in Pakistan's attack capability.They are a serious headache for the Indians.Compared to brahmos,I think they are both better.Well to clear up some of our member confusion on babur's and RA'AD capability and in order to prevent us from going astray from the topic i can give a few sources to do the trick:

I sincerely hoping that our Barbur SHOULD including in the future silent-hunter U-214 submarines in very deep sea undetectably. It is worthy-money to experiment it and maybe in Agosts 90B.....

IF the diameter of the Babur is indeed 0.52 m THEN it should be possible to come up with a version that can be launched from any standard 533mm (21") submarine torpedo tube.

What you mean by number one technology. It's better to say that Pakistan is one of the few countries have Cruise Missile technology.

India has Brahmbos which has unmatchable speed of around 2-3 Mach while new version will have speed of around 4-5 mach. As per babur it has speed of around 0.8 Mach. But, still Pak need very few missiles because Pakistan being very near to India and even short range missile are enough. Pakistan's actual width is around 500 Km so any missile of around 700-1000 is enough for Indian Side. So don't compare. Also, mostly no one will use as each will attract higher aggression from the opposite country. Missiles and nukes are just to make sure that no one go to full scale war. Probably missiles will never be used.

India does not yet have the capability to make BrahMos locally in a full scale production. That's being established.

That is true but i think Pakistan was modifying Exocets for that purpose........but we really don't need sea launched nukes as of yet. Plenty of aerial and land assets.

Cruise Missiles

Babur/Hatf-VII

In August 2005, Pakistan conducted the first test of its Babur/Hatf-VIII cruise missile. Babur is a subsonic missile with a range of 700 km and can carry both nuclear and conventional payloads. When it was first tested, its range was 500 km, which was subsequently extended. It is a terrain-hugging missile, making detection by ground-based radars difficult. As of 2008, the missile has not yet been deployed with the Pakistani armed services. Apart from the ground-launched version, Islamabad also plans to develop the Babur for deployment on aircraft (such as F-16, Mirage, A-5) and submarines (Agosta 90B).

The missile has been tested on numerous occasions since 2005 — March 2006, March 2007, July 2007, and December 2007.

The origins of the Babur are shrouded in controversy. Although the official position of the Pakistan government is that the missile was developed indigenously, it is widely suspected that the Babur is based on the Chinese DH-10 missile which, in turn, was derived from U.S. cruise missile technology through Tomahawk missiles that had landed unexploded in Afghanistan in 1998 and were passed on by Pakistan to China.

Ra'ad/Hatf-VIII

Two years after first testing the Babur, Pakistan test-fired a new air-launched cruise missile, the Ra'ad ('Thunder' in Arabic), in August 2007, from a Mirage III EA aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force. This nuclear capable missile reportedly has a 350 km range along with stealth capabilities. The missile was subsequently tested in May 2008 as part of the process of "validating the design parameters of the system."

Although the first test of the Ra'ad took place from a Mirage aircraft, according to one analyst, it is probable that the Ra'ad would be deployed on the F-16A and F-16C fighter aircraft. It is also likely that the relatively limited range of the Ra'ad indicates that it is a new design dependent on technology transfers from a foreign actor preferring to desist from violating the MTCR's payload and range restrictions.

There are fewer than 50 launchers for the road-mobile Ghaznavi and Shaheen I SRBMs listed in the NASIC report, and the 2,000+ km Shaheen II MRBM is not yet operational but may be soon. Pakistan also appears to have two nuclear-capable cruise missiles under development: the ground-launched Babur and the air-launched Ra’ad.

Do nuclear-capable cruise missiles need to have a Plutonium based warhead because of lighter weight, or can Uranium based warhead also be used?

An uranium based bomb is a lot bigger and heavier. So you either have less range uranium or big range plutonium. Since range is a big issue when it comes to nukes you do not have uranium based versions.

Pakistan should also enhance the Babur cruise missile to be sea lanuched from both ships and submarines. Additonal improved versions should travel 1000 - 2500 miles.
