awami league was in a lose lose situation before the verdict of ICT-2. They could have pushed the country on the verge of a civil war by sending the Jamaati leader to death, the other is putting him in life in prison where they lose the public's confidence in the justice system. Jamaat is on a roll, they have announced Hartal on Wednesday and this is the boost they were looking after. Awami League has not gotten the objective of eradicating Jamaat and thus destroying the chance of BNP coming back to power. Awami league and the police are so scared of Jamaat that they have deployed BGB to protect Dhaka.
BGB deployed in capital

Recent statements from Sheikh Hasina indicates that she maybe fearing a coup, she has alerted the army hierarchy to keep a close eye on the officers after the release of this photo
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/535958_210474952423839_1188480900_n.jpg

BNP realizes that sooner rather than later the EU, US and Canada will impose sanctions on Bangladesh's garments sector, which will also bring the workers on the street for protest.

workers+jamaat+bnp+ no caretaker government = civil war
workers+jamaat+bnp= Army intervenes

if army intervenes, Hasina maybe in big trouble her, family and her party members can be killed due to their involvement in the Pilkhana massacre..so Bangladesh awami league is in a dire situation at the moment on top of that the party has failed the people of Bangladesh with Padma bridge with massive corruption... tough times for Awami League ahead...Bangladesh Zindabad!

I am not going to respond much to this nonsensical thread and my message is addressed to mainstream Bangladeshis (excluding Jamatis, who are 4.7% of Bangladesh and partisan BNP supporters e.g. Azidane), Indians, Chinese, westerners and others.

1. Much of what you read on this forum is sensationalized nonsense and depicts everything in black and white.

2. Bangladesh has had the 5th highest rate of growth in the world if you start from 2008 - now.

3. Bangladesh has been a continuous parliamentary democracy - with a 2 year interlude from 2007-2008 - unlike other Muslim countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria etc.

4. The Bangladeshi military is a moderate pro-western entity which believes in the importance of democracy and the continuity of the democratic process.

The military also monitors this site and also has files on troublemakers.

The military has a good and healthy relationship with the United States of America.

5. The USA which is the most powerful country on earth and the leader of the west can cripple Bangladesh economically if it so chose to but does not as they want to see Bangladesh follow an Indonesia-style path of parliamentary democracy and free market prosperity.

The USA can in effect veto or authorize any military coup or take over in Bangladesh and the military will never do anything which the US will be angry at.

6. The US and the Bangladeshi military are both very aware of the corrupt nature of the Awami League, BNP and Jamat but being mature adults they realize we do not live in a perfect world and have to work with what we have.

There will be no sanctions.

There will be no civil war.

If there is an army take over it will be authorized by Washington D.C. and will partially be motivated by US displeasure at Hasina's harassment of Muhammad Yunus.

The Awami League's "war crimes trial" is known to be unfair and motivated by a political agenda, but also many of the the raz-akars on trial are also known to be criminals and murderers and will get justice in the hereafter and are old and will die soon.

Please do not take an exaggerated and sensationalistic thread started by a partisan supporter of one political party such as this thread seriously.

NO MORE COMMENTS.

I'm out of this thread.

Awamileague is the only party with balls and support!! BNP lacks courage and Jamat lacks Support. League willnt Go down so easily!

If this is the fact, where were all the balls and support right after 15th aug,75. All the ba$stards gather for their own interest and if things go wrong, they disappear. It's simple when you lose your morale, you'd act like the aftermath of 15th aug.

One thing....the two culprit families of BD and Pakistan have almost similar fate. Mujib and Bhutto both had to embrace abnormal death. Later Benazir was also assassinated, following that now it's time for Hasina bi$ch though she survived once which Benazir couldn't.

Forgot to mention 40 lakh investors in stock exchange?

Anyway, In the streets I see AL has not support, but in the media and blog I see AL is huge support. Why this discrepancy?

Media is closely monitored by Awami League leaders, any discrepancy and they threaten the tv channel owners with taking them off the air. Even the late night talk shows are pushed later at night so the public can't view them, in some channels they are not even allowed.

Stop preaching your awami league doctrine. You have your mind made up and go on with the same how everyone hates the jamaatis, the fact is jamaat and bnp are in alliance, nothing changes that.

I am afraid lot of blood will be split to ouster BAL. Things R going from bad to worse. They won't go down easily. But there is no other alternative but ouster BAL thugs to save the country and the preserve whatever is left of the state institutions.

Btw this seem to be the new desperate awami plan to hold on to power:

Thats because those People of 1975 Saw 1971... it was hard to wash their brain, no?? They knew it very well those who killed Mujib were themselves decorated freedom fighters.... But now a days its easy to brainwash people... they hardly know anything... All they Know is Shopokhher shokti and Bipokhher Shokti Mula like this -

BAL has forced every private channel to air BTV news.

-Sujhon Haldar -BTV news.

Heh heh, Unnayan er joyar, thanks to Mujib and her daughter Hasina and their Awami League. Of course.

Bangladesh will never prosper till we root out the traitors from among our midst. No Bangladeshi should undermine Bangladesh interest for the sake of another foreign country. That will never bring anything good for Bangladesh and its people.

Eventually we should get rid of all political parties, because all members of these political parties put their personal interest above country.

I support a party less system, where only independent candidates will stand for elections based on their track record. We can make it happen if we try. Do not vote for political parties and only vote for independent candidates.

Highly unlikely a scenario, someone will steal the revolution. Humans in generally want to be lead. That independent member will start his own party and become a fascist one. Problem with Bangladesh is its a small place with no natural resource. So not enough resources for the elites of the countries to live in harmony, so they take turns.
