I got an information from bdmilitary that the Bangladesh Navy would purchase more fleet refuelling tankers as well apart from at least 3 more frigates (to replace the ageing British gun frigates) and there are many other procurements such as corvettes, etc...

.
The govt is unlikely to buy vst amount of Military products from China anymore.
The J-10s would be replaced by the Russian Su-30s...
And we're likely to buy Miltary products also from the US and other European countries... It is in a way good, but we also dont want to lose friendship with China...:(

. . .
Bangladesh should go for the JF-17 and Al-Khalids... Good bang for the buck.

Thanks for your advice but, the BAF is very likely to acquire Su-30s and the Bangladesh Army will acquire vast number of Ukrainian Yatagan MBTs...:)

.
Su-30 would be a better option for us...

I notice that things are going quite well in Bangladesh and that their economy is certainly not slowing down.
My question is, how big or how much is the Bangladeshi government willing to spend on her defence requirements?
Especially now with the growing threat of Indian imperialism and the border conflicts with Myanmar.
Also, I would like to point out that it would be good for both Pakistan and Bangladesh if these nations had good defence relations especially in terms of buying and selling military hardware.
I think Asim was also pointing out, when he said that JF17 and Al-Khalid were good option for BD military, that the maintainance costs were much lower and the price that is involved with it is low aswell.
JF17 is an excellent low-cost multi-role jetfighter, which BD can procure and maintain in large numbers.
In terms of the Sukhoi jets, I don't know how much BD can afford, but the numbers certainly will not be as overwhelming as the JF17.
It's a strategic choice, and BD must keep its finances in mind and her long term prospects regarding her armed forces.
Any way or another, I hope Bangladesh procures the right equipment to meet her defensive needs, the most important thing ofcourse is that Bangladesh has the ability to defend itself, with what or how, is a question for later, but the fact that the equipment is there is important.

Brother, I'd consider the AL govt as the best for the Bangladesh Military though its a pro-Indian party... I want Bangladesh and Pakistan to be best friends... but the AL govt is very unlikely to let this happen...
Beside Sukhois, BAF should also go JF-17s and other Pakistani good products... And, about MBT, Bangladesh will procuring 200~300 Yatagan MBTs from Ukraine... Bangladesh would also be looking for US-made Military products...
I dont prefer to buy the same things which India already has, 'cause, in case of war we cant fight with the stuffs!!

i would like bangladesh to go for a few su-35 flankers rather tha the su-30 ,although it is costly and might be inducted in small numbers that it will the best aircraft in the whole region if they choose su-35 not even china nor india can match such capabilities as the su-35 till the 5th gen planes arrive.

thnx

As long as we are all on Fantasy Island, why not F-22's and F-35's? Then Bangladesh would rule the whole sub continent ...muhaha..! muhaha..!. Seriously, why does Bangladesh want to get into an arms race with its neighbors? Isn't better to be left alone in peace to focus on development?

Bangladesh military should be equipped with advanced technology and weapons in order to ensure the total security of our mother land...
And yes, we are capable for buying some F-22s aswel but the Russian jets are now superior to them... So, currently we're not looking for any US-made jets at this moment but other military products...:)

The harsh reality of our world is, you cannot be left in peace (or in one piece) if you show a sign of weakness.
If it was possible for e.g. Pakistan or Bangladesh to focus entirely on economic development, i'm sure these nations would've done so.
But it's just not possible, you have to ensure the survival of your species and your economic achievements before you can achieve even more.

Let me just remind you peacefully. Do you remember what Zionist Israel did to Lebanon couple years ago. They level the country to the ground. Do you know why because Lebanon try to live peacefully. If Lebanon was equipped with modern weapons and a discipline military than they could have retaliate with extreme devastation. They live like mule in hostile territory. If bd was located next Switzerland than we don't need strong military but the reality is we located next to a country that would like us disappear in thin air. Bd need strong military to survive with dignity not for amusement. I hope you understand the Geo political issue in SA.

Point taken, Bangladesh's location between China and India is not ideal. But realistically does Bangladesh stand a chance against either of the two in an armed conflict. Hi tech military hardware may only delay the inevitable. A better approach is perhaps to focus on better relations with all the important regional players in South Asia including Pakistan.
Ideally, get these countries to invest in Bangladesh and so a stable progressive Bangladesh is in the best interest of all concerned. It may not be a bad idea for Bangladesh to take advantage of regional rivalry between China and India.
