After the war crimes tribunal declared life sentence of Kadir Mullah there is a rumor going on that awami league is trying to have a agreement with jamat. The agreement is Jamat will leave BNP and will do election next year with out caretaker government. As BNP will not go for election without caretaker Awami league will win and Jatio Party and Jamat will be the opposition party in exchange the Imprison leaders of jamat will not get death penalty. There is also further benefit for Awami league in this arrangement. Middle east will be happy and finance some government project. If jamat does not provide muscle it will be impossible for BNP to push caretaker issue.Guys have you heard anything like this also?

These negotiations have been going on for the last 6 months but the Jamaat-e-Islami cannot trust the AL that after the latter wins the elections they will not continue with the war crimes trials and hang all the accused. Now that Kader Mollah has been sentenced there can be no agreement so the AL has decided to eliminate the Jamaat from the elections process.

But life sentence means their is scope for Appeal , Presidential Pardon or released because of old age. Qader Mollah made a "V" for victory sign while getting into a car after the verdict. And there seems to be rift between BNP and Jamat.

Whatever. BNP leaders were agitated on this.. I have many young leaders ( aged 30-40) in my FB and most of them think the verdict is an outcome of backdoor deal...

Persionally i dont care about 5-6 jamati leaders.... In order to protect Jamat, the young generation should Impale their Old ******* leaders...If they are guilty justice served and if they are not- direct heaven..... Its the young generation that i love from my personal experience and worried about them...

I agree with you. For the greater good the accused leaders should have retired years ago. By doing this they could have saved the reputation of the party. Guess we are all power hungry.

On the surface it may look like a deal and there may have been some background contact but those as far I know were broken down. Kader Mollah was not prime traget for india and Awami League, main targets are Golam Azam, Sayedee, Nizami, Muzahid. Also, this was bit of Awami deception at play to show that tribunal is fair and to create mistrust for divide and conquer. BNP with its inaction already fallen for Awami League game. Jamaat I still doubt would fall for it but we have to wait for little longer to see what is real fact about it.

As for justice no one can expect fair trial from this kangaroo court regardless these people are guilty or not. Awami League regime from the beginning tainted the judicial process and evidence. Besides, lies and unsubstentiated claims and accusations were admitted as evidance by court. Awami League regime even abducted key witness from court premise just so he can not give his statement to court. How can one expect justice from such blatant injustice. Making people sacrificial lamb will not going to serve justice for people who lost their life in 1971.

At any case BNP folks who are angry should direct their anger in right place; towards KZ for inaction. Inaction in organizing party, committes, including Dhaka and Chittagong city committee and directing movement. Jamaat or "war crime" is irrelevent, issue is throwing subservient, corrup and oppressive Awami League regime.

Well the crux of the matter is that 4 of their activist were killed just yesterday. Not to mention the no. of activist in jail & got killed over the last 4 years. The jails R literally crawling with mainly JI and BNP walas . Some of them may loose their life today as well. These doesn't show signs of any compromise at all. Rather JI went for more protest after the recent awami ICT verdict of life sentence. They R a ideological party and as such impossible to crush. Forget 1st tier, even after all their 2nd/3rd tier leaders R in jail they R still not suffering any leadership Vacuum so much so that they can do hartals on consecutives days. This is enough to prove their support base and political cohesion & strength they have.

As for the recent verdict by awami ICT & JI giving flowers which is raising all these rumors , there R many reasons:

- BAL was always opportunistic about trail and conducted it as a means to eliminate opposition as per prescription of their master. They may be trying to raise doubts among BNP & the people at large about JI doing compromise. They R a party devoid of ideology or morality , they can do it in a eyes blink. Deception is their inherent trait.

- They backed off fearing JI street agitation & trying to clam the situation down.

- Without an iota of doubt, there is mounting international pressure about the credibility & fairness of this trail.

- Police coming at the end of awami term are devided and have a broken chain of command. Goplagaunj walas R no listening to higer ups who R having second thoughts on abiding awami party orders. A side effect of rampant mindboggling politicizing of the police.

- The peaceful JI gathering 2 days back was huge and any sane police having half a bridsbrain know the consequences of attacking such a large crowd, case point: They didn't attack the crowd pulling long marches of BKZ.

- They may have allowed the JI to do rally 2 days back, to give a deceptive notion of doing a compromise with JI. They don't care about the people or the country or votes. They just want to break the opposition.

Their leaders have suffered a lot over the last 4 years not just 1sy tier leaders undergoing awami ICT but also 2nd & 3rd tier leaders. Lot of their activist sacrificed their lives. They didn't do all these to achieve a compromise with opportunist BAL thugs which would mean throwing away their powerful support base & strong command structure they have painstakingly built over the past 6 decades. They simply have nothing to gain by this hypothetical compromise. These whole rumor thing as common sense dictates is nothing but a awami deception in their desperate attempt to save their sorry bankrupt selves IMO. :)

It will be clear in next verdict. If tribunal declare life sentence it will confirm Awami Jamat backdoor deal. Most of the general public thought Kader Mollah will get death sentence even i was sure. Awami league can really surprise you.

BAL has overstreched and the life sentence is a sign of weakness. The ICT is a joke and has nothing to do with justice.

JI and BAL are old bedfellows so there may very well be a deal.
however if I was a JI policy advisor I would not trust BAL.

As for BNP they are quickly approaching the last chance saloon. Gear up and
line up and post ICT hammer the crap out if BAL.

It is wrong to assume BNP do not have muscle ..... It's just they lack organisation..... As a party given how close the election are the lathergy must be overcome.

I have met a few shibirs myself(associate-member level) and prayed with them. They are one of the nicest people ever.

On topic: We all know that this whole thing is a tv show, nothing surprising.

This is the fact...BAL has less than a year in hand, after that he'll be free. Otherwise he'd have been hanged. BAL couldn't make the verdict less than lifetime as it's been playing with the sentiment of huge masses for around 7 years.

These b$astards who were involved in killing of unarmed civilians should have been killed by many incidents before like road accident, poisoning, bombing etc. War crime tribunal isn't capable of hanging them all as they are part of a legitimate party which has followers. Also, war crime tribunal's story is different politically motivated...clueless people are not getting that there sentiments are the target of this game.

Besides, other than 71 our peoiple have been killed several times. 72-75 era was a nightmare for any opponent of Mujib..many lost lives. Now for long our people are being killed by neighboring country's terrorist organization. These all have to be brought under jurisdiction....either overt or covert. If any Bangladeshi civilian loses life, that has to be treated anyhow.

Unfortunately, the people crying for justice of war criminals are never uttering a single word about these that still their same people are being killed. It indicates some other motive....they are biased.

Yes the Jamaat are stupid. Once a person is convicted for an offence he cannot stand for elections for 5 years. If every Jamaat leader is convicted and given life imprisonment then about 5 will not be able to stand for elections. In these circumstances will the Jamaat boycott and ensure a AL victory after which they may or may not grant an appeal or amnesty and may instead ban the party altogether? It would be extremely dangerous for the Jamaat to trust the AL.

Imo all these political leader should have "superstitious" deaths. The country will be in a mess but it will be for the greater good. Need another batch of Farook-Rashid

It is certainly plausible that some deal may have been struck between the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Awami League and for that reason Abdul Qader Mollah was awarded what many have described as a lenient sentence. If the remaining accused receive similar sentences then we can only conclude that the Jamaat-e-Islami will be eliminated from standing for elections (either through agreement with the AL or direct boycott as convicted persons cannot contest) and thus ensuring a victory for the Awami League. However, once the elections are over and the AL are again confirmed in power what would prevent them from banning the Jamaat-e-Islami party as they have promised repeatedly to do? They would have the legitimacy provided by an election victory to do this and the Jamaat-e-Islami would be in an even weaker position to protest or resist. I cannot believe that the Jamaat-e-Islami could be so politically naive to come to such an arrangement with the AL. If, however, the Jamaat-e-Islami boycott the elections they can still maintain their objections credibly and also raise doubt on the legitimacy of the elections process. I believe that most of these rumours of an agreement are mere propaganda to discredit the Jamaat-e-Islami and cause friction in their alliance with the BNP. It is now the plan of the AL and their Indian backers to have an election under any circumstances so that their agenda can be completed in the next term. None of this has anything to do with the 1971 'chetona' and is simply a ruthless geo-politcial game being played by India to dominate the region ........ The Pilkhana mutiny and massacre was merely Act 1 of this tragic play while Ghoom Khoon was Act 2 and we are soon coming to Act 3 .....
