I think A-50 is a no-go for IAF anymore, Europeans probably have the best shot with either the A320 or to keep commonality with the IAF's future AAR fleet the A330.

Well given it would have to be a medium/large sized passenger jet I'd say we were quite some time away from seeing this dream become a reality but one day for sure.

How about C295 ?

Elta will offer it soon as well, next to the G550:

The C295 Phalcon is a low cost AWACS, for smaller countries that can't afford the G550 or bigger once. The C295 as a platform here will have limitations mainly in altitude, range and speed and therefor won't be a good choice of Indian forces.
