What's new

AVIC Presents FC-31 Stealth Fighter model to Pakistan Air Force Chief.

That would put a lot of burden on the pilot and hence the case for twin seat version to be more effective.

For us it will do even if its better than the best in the region.

Don't worry, it would stay south of 50

1.14 billion times 5 years is 5.7 billion and if financing is available, then you don't need to pay the full amount upfront. if 5 year financing is available the amount swells to 11.4 billion, which should be enough to finance two squadrons.

The new avionics and flight computer will allow the pilot to concentrate on other things at times.

Why not directly go for F-22??
I heard it is wayyyyy better

Yaar, Uncle Sam hasn't sell advanced technology to anyone. F-35 is only option available we can ask from Uncle Sam or we should ask China for J-20 maybe.

Sort of disappointed on J-31 (mini-mickey mouse), China has alot of works to do to catch up to F-35 standards.

Just flat piece of plastic and low-cost materials on black body with eagle symbol logo, that's weird.

When a aircraft is communicating with multiple aircrafts, AWAC, Ground controllers as well exchanging Info with everyone as quickly as possible to mitigate highly dense electronic warfare environment. You definitely need high bandwidth.

Perhaps you have no idea of encryption today. When voice is encrypted with 128 or 256 bit protocols (AES is a standard protocol), it does consume considerable bandwidth. Though data with encryption consume less amount but amount is still significant.

The amount of data you are sending is very small itself.
Position of the aircraft, it's tracking, enemy bogies etc. Those are simple numbers and arithmetic.
Less characters=less encryption=less bandwidth.

What i said was , you cannot compare a PTCL broadband with military one. While one wastes lots of bandwidth in loading flashy graphics and animation, the other doesn't. It is to the point.

Though i don't know how a GoPro was linked with F-16 through Wifi........did they create a special router for the plane?

I tend to agree with your thoughts, but the problem with PAF is that they don't have unlimited budget and to use that effectively, they base their buying decisions to counter what the enemy can/will throw at them. I think this gives an edge as PAF always buys specific equipment to counter the enemy's latest tech.
A very sensible post. I disagree with syedali73 post about PAF decisions being knee jerk and reactive. This is a very superficial assessment of the situation facing PAF. You have to understand our limitations. The problem has been one of lack of resources, limitation of suppliers, and the fact that you just cannot compete with your adversary numbers wise irrespective of how you try. PAF has mae the best out of a bad situation and s raped out a flleet which has kept the enemy at bay. Sure there is deception andmisrepresentation of facts but I dont think there is any grossly neglectful act.

Sometimes i thought that PAF have any strategy or not ?
maybe they are too relax with the fact that , now we got nukes so there wont be any Conventional war ..
even in that case , stop procuring more Conventional systems, just invest in different kind of Cruise Missiles and Ballistic Missiles ..and you can still scare your enemy off ...
at least stop playing with the Nation that they can take care of the Enemy , anytime ...

Isn't bandwith wasted by Jamming ? with advent of frequency hopping whose concept is similar to What Internet download manager does. Open 8-10 connection simultaneously with server and divide your whole bandwidth into those 8-10 connections. So If server blocks your one connections, you would still be able to download your file with albiet with less speed.

Frequency hopping overcomes jamming by dividing bandwidth over multiple frequencies. Jam one frequency, It wont affect communication but bandwidth would be affected.

Now coming back to data itself, Let's assume the data (altitude, height, speed, direction, number of boggies, distance, type of aircraft, position of friendlies in Area of region) would generate a 500 KB file plus another 500 KB require for encryption. 1 MB file. 1 MB of bandwidth would require data to be send in 5 second. 2 MB would do in 4, 3 MB would do in 3 seconds. Which is entirely unacceptable in high threat environment. Data should be updated in 0 or less than 0 seconds (in milliseconds)

AFAIK, LINK-16 is the router fo F-16. Perhaps they have attached a usb cable with Link-16 hardware to Go-pro usb port and shared it with others ?

Link 16 can provide maximum of 238kbit/s !!

So not really very fast, but seems to be the core of net centric warfare on number of platforms.

Also, your wifi router is good for a maximum of a few 10s of meters. Your cellular networks good for a few KM. So depending on the radio you are using, you may not be able to get a faster bandwidth out.

An f-16 might need to relay information out from 200kms.....meaning at that range the bandwidth of any radio is going to be less.

ooh no noo,,,

oh no noo,
i am afraid there is no truth in this. We got weapons for a war when that period was over the policy was also changed. That was nothing like "ya baat hmary lea dachka the" the author is just add spicy to sell better.
:)

Hi,

You asked the other poster for the claim----. Now why don't you provide a claim that it was not the truth----. Yu did not take his word for it---but you want your comments to be taken for granted.

Let's just say they are not willing to discuss much over the phone these days. !!!

Hi,

Actually they are surprised that we know as much as they do---and at times we have more of a grip than them.

Hi,

Do you really really understand what you just stated-----. The eagle symbol has a purpose----it is a message for someone-----as it is not a small picture---so this is not a discrete type of message---but as it is a large and clear picture---it is a very clear and direct message to the 'eagle'----.

Now---what message it is---I don't know----but it must have some significance of what it is displayed on.

The bird isn't an Eagle though, it's a falcon - the FC-31 is known as 鹘鹰 or Gyrfalcon, sometimes it's known as the Falcon Hawk (a falcon sub-genus that includes Gyrfalcons):

China unveils its brand new stealth fighter: the J-31 “Falcon Eagle”.

The J-31 is smaller than the J-20, from which it differs for the grey paint job and the presence of a colored emblem on the tails (in place of the typical red star) with the text 鹘鹰, Chinese for “Falcon Eagle”

*Falcon Eagle isn't a real bird though, it's a mistranslated version of the Falcon Hawk Subgenus - which includes the Gyrfalcon:

Hierofalcon

It's not a message, it's a representation of the aircraft's nickname - Gyrfalcon.

Well whatever it is; it'll be seen flying over the skies of Norway soon ! :smokin:

Soon Norway will be annexed by Pakistan !

On second thoughts....its damn cold up there and we're a people mostly from warm fertile plains and scorching hot deserts ! :fie:

You can keep Norway ! :(

. .
Make sure we attack first, of you'll be dealing with:

nato-eagle-background.png

Ma'am all we're going to have to do is to have someone get the following signs put up in the streets of Oslo and you'd all go berserk !

denmark-metal[1].jpg

Then when you guys are going to attack my poor Danish brethren; I'd be like :D :-
