Since when does Hollywood need China to have success? The Last Jedi did horrible in China and still made over $1.3B. Can Hollywood find extra growth in China? Sure...but I'm sure our companies are just happy to see Chinese have such a high demand for American entertainment.

Even within Hollywood, a film maker at most can get back 60% of the box office, 40% from China that is a lot.

And finally, How many Chinese go and see Disney movie? Last year Disney movie have 700 millions box office in China, 40% of those mean 280 millions goes directly to their pocket. That's 280 millions is then convert to bomb and bomb the shit out of wherever you came from. AND THAT'S A LOT OF BOMBS....

Again, as I said on the other post, the article discounted the fact Chinese Movie market peaked at Jan/Feb during lunar new year holiday and October during national day. While US/Canada peak at July and December during Independence day and Christmas.

It's too early to say China will beat US/Canada in box office when Chinese market made around 8 billions last year, while US/Canada made around 12 billions in 2017. It would be a while before China can catch up anywhere domestic US level.

Beside, even if and when Chinese boxoffice went pass US domestic, unless Chinese also loosen the foreign representation on movie in China, it won't work because most of Chinese box office is for domestic movie, only 34 foreign movie are allowed to screen in China, that include British, Indian, Japan, and South Korean movie, which mean Hollywood producer will not get a big pie to begin by default with anyway, which mean Chinese movie market is unimportant to Hollywood.
