Not sure about gov. but Pakistani public will buy Mehran, Cultus because it has "resale value". Things will change only when public itself will stop buying crap on premium prices.

U hv to keep an eye on the indian market to get an inkling of what is in store for pak market. I think a succesful pakistani motor company is still at least 6-7 yrs or a decade away. Pardon me if u disagree. @Zibago @LoveIcon

Pakistan's Auto Industry is 2-3 decades behind the Indian, no shame in accepting the fact. Same is true for Pharma Mafia, they are also sell crap on high prices.

2-3 decades? Not sure.
Will catch up with them in the next few years. Once u grow a critical mass in any industry, things start moving fast. It will happen here also. First with autos, then with pharma, plastics, it, petro chemicals, consumer goods, food and beverages etc. U will see a whole lot of billion dollar companies appear on the horizon. If pak can grow smoothly for the next 5 years, then its economy will have taken off. There will be no stopping after that. Mark my words.
