Police officer in South Minneapolis, Minnesota, shot dead a 40-year-old woman from Sydney shortly after she dialed 911 to alert of a possible alley assault. The woman’s family now demands answers for what they say was unprovoked violence.
In the wake of the shooting, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued a statement confirming that two officers were responding to a 911 call implying that an assault could have been taking place in in the alley off West 51st Street, between Washburn and Xerxes Avenues, around midnight on Saturday.

Hmm... Somali-American cop (Mohammed Noor) shoots Australian white woman (Justine Damond) at around midnight. I guess you guys aren't interested in screaming "#whitelivesmatter" or bring up religion into this eh?

The Police probably thought she was a BLACK MAN...... That explains why they turned off their body cams and SHOT so quickly.....

. .
Unless they employ blind officers as part of some positive affirmation programme how exactly would they mistake a blond female for a black man?

Whatever the outcome of any investigation into this tragedy, whether the police are considered 'trigger happy' or anything else, I really do think that it reflects America's stupid attitude and relationship with firearms, their stupid Second Amendment. Have a look at Jim Jeffries comedy sketches on this issue; it says it all!

Entirely agree with you. I can't believe how such a literate, advanced country like USA can't see the sense that [ less guns > better ] and gun crime in that country is linked to their crazy gun laws.

Justine Damond with her fiancé, Don Damond, and stepson, Zach Damond Facebook
The Australian woman who was shot dead by Minnesota cops was a deeply spiritual person who left her life in Sydney to move to America for the man she loved, friends said Monday.

Justine Damond, who worked as a spiritual mentor, made the tough choice to move across the world in 2015 after meeting fiancé Don Damond during a workshop in the US.

“It was a difficult decision for her to make,” her close pal Eloise King told the Sydney Morning Herald Monday.

Woman who called 911 to report disturbance shot dead by cops

An Australian woman who was living in Minnesota and engaged...

“She was committed to love and the relationship that was there for her. It didn’t take long for him to propose and for them to get their life started together.”

Damond, 40, was shot and killed by police outside her home in Fulton on Saturday night after she called to report a “sound” in the alley behind the house.

One of the officers blasted her through the driver’s door as she tried to speak to police in her driveway. Neither their bodycams nor the patrol car’s dashcam were turned on at the time of the shooting.

“She thought there was something bad that was happening and next thing I know, they take my best friend’s life. So I’m just done. F—k the police,” said her stepson, Zach Damond.

In Sydney, friends gathered at Damond’s parents’ home in Freshwater as her family tried to make sense of her death.

“This is a very difficult time for our family,” the Ruszczyk family said in a statement. “We are trying to come to terms with this tragedy and to understand why this has happened.”

Friend Julie Reed remembered Damond, who used her fiance’s last name ahead of their nuptials next month, for all the “joy she brought to our lives.”

King called Damond “infectious and loving.”

“I know everyone thinks this when a loved one goes in any kind of manner but she was seriously one of the most beautiful people that has ever walked the face of the planet,” King said. “She was just infectious, not just for me. There are so many people that would talk about her in the same way.”

this case is not about gun laws. Here a cop shot an innocent.
American police officers are considered quite trigger happy , you wont find this behavior amongst britain cops or i guess even other european states police. Dont know where exactly american police training lacks that they love going around shooting people even at the slightest hint of danger. I often get to see trigger happy term asociated with American cops and i am not sure if America would still do something to change it?

Do not consider it america bashing, it is a nice country but these things are very disturbing and so not speak too well of local security forces. Even before i had read a case of a woman whomcalled 911 for help and instead the cops threw her inside the locker ,stripped and msitreated her extremely badly..and she had no charges against her? And even if you have charges on you do you deserve being treated like an animal.

Well to be fair the trigger happy cops tend to be in trigger happy areas. That's why they are trigger happy.

It is about gun laws. Police officers are human. Their behaviour to a extent reflects the community that they police. If every second person in your community is armed and guns are used regularly then if I were a cop I would have my hand on the holster all the time. I would want to go home safe to my kds at end of shift. I do know that in large parts of US guns are used at the drop of a hat and too many people carry guns and even more are quick to use them. This leads to trigger happy cops.

Compare this with your average British copper whose shift might entail few drunks and couple of louts. So gun laws, culture and demography all have a bearing and of course the police officers.

I just fail to understand what motivates these "police officers" to shoot women and children?
Why are they in such a great hurry to pull the triggers?

Probably because they know they will not get punished and they can hide behind the usual "felt threatened for their life" or resorted to "their training and standard operating procedure", and the whole police and judiciary system protects the police officers at any cost. One (police officer) has to be a real dickhead to kill some innocent citizen and get penalized.

Spike in 2001 was 9/11 fatalities

Australian breakfast shows are all over this. They have released the transcripts of 911 call and woman went close to the driver side of police car and cop sitting on other side pulled the trigger. It is perplexing that woman in her pajamas were shot multiple times by cops. Also, dashboard cams of police vehicles were switched off and police body cameras were also not switched on. Aussie media was showing the pictures of cop who pulled the trigger to sensationalise as he looks Somalian American with a Muslim name, and was a cop for less than two years.
