Do you still think so? Imo, Australia is unfortunate like France in that they have unusually and uniformly useless politicians (cf. Sarkozy, Hollande), no matter the side of the political spectrum. I thought Gillard was mediocre, but she turned out to be marginally better than Rudd. And Rudd is marginally better than Abbott. Abbott is total gorilla clad in pigskin, he's going to cause diplomatic relations to be cut off with Asia by the end of his term. Vowing to continue spying on another head of state even after getting caught is simply insane.

There was no "back stabbing" involved. East Timor wanted indepedence and they voted for it. It was backed by the UN and supported by most countries around the world.

Indonesia has been caught spying on Australia atleast 3 times now, Australia simply doesn't care. We recognize the fact that it's normal for all governments to spy on every other government. It's completely normal and we didn't kick up a stink and act how the Indonesians are acting now.

It's not insane at all. EVERY SINGLE GOVERNMENT spies on EVERY SINGLE GOVERNMENT it's a well recorded fact, it's not going to change. Indonesia knows it's going to continue and we know Indonesia will continue to spy on us. This is what people don't understand.

People are pretending it's some sort of major scandal when it isn't. Everyone knows governments gather intelligence and spy on each other.
