Astronauts to stay in closed chamber for 520 days

Six astronauts from China, Russia, France and Germany will converge on Russia to join an experiment in a closed simulation chamber called "Mars-500" at the end of this month, said Chen Shanguang, director of China Astronaut Research and Training Center on Tuesday.

The six persons will stay in the chamber, a sealed space, for 520 days, which is as long as the round-trip time required for a manned Mars exploration.

Besides language barriers, cultural differences, including eating habits, will be magnified in the small space, especially differences in body odor.

In order to expand outer space, man has been making efforts to extend the time astronauts stay at the outer space and even hope to find "settlements" in other planets.

Maybe the team will be a mix of male and female astronauts, if they can not return for some reason then at least they can set up a human colony on some other planet and extend the reach of human race

BTW, how the hell do they shower? Is there someway they can gather water from the space? So many questions that need answers.
