Asif Ibrahim tipped to be new IB chief

why the f*** are we discussing the religion of the person to hold the position?? final goal is to make India stronger, right?? than how it matters if the IB head is a muslim or the remote control operator is christian. Have we made ourselves so low that we need to showcase the religion of a person rather than his/her capability & that to satisfy the ego of some people across the border. The guy was the best person for the job & thus given the position, end the religion nonsense here.

. . .
nothing less that Hindu slaves for Punjabi Muslim landlords from Pakistan in India would do....

.
We have less muslims in civil services which is why we dont see many in top jobs.
Same for women.
Focus should be how more muslims can join civil services.

.
Notice Muslims only have two major posts in Indias govts even though 15% of india is Muslim.. And vice president is a shitty post which is not worth of any value

At least they are not treated the way Hindus are being treated in Pakistan. And owing to which i doesn't come as surprise that Hindus are fleeing Pakistan.

only if they study in schools and colleges . major number of indian muslims study in madarsas (which no govt will be stopping ) , which contribute nothing to their mental development , and still those who study outside of religious constraints are quite good performers .

Remote Control Operator: Christian-born

Dude, I thought remote control of us mere mortals rested in the hand of the almighty. Are you implying that the almighty himself is Christian? :D

. . .
His religion is not important. Hope he is competent and does a better job than IB has done in the past.

There is nothing to prove here to those who are anyways blind, for those who can see, do not need our help. We have had a christian RAW chief, nobody even knows about it. Thats how it should be.

Asif Ibrahim tipped to be new IB chief

The government is likely to appoint S Asif Ibrahim as Director of Intelligence Bureau. He will be the first Muslim to hold the post.

Ibrahim’s name, it’s learnt, has been recommended for the post. Ibrahim, a 1977-batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau.

Decks were cleared for his appointment after his colleague in the IB, Yashovardhan Azad, also of Madhya Pradesh cadre but a year senior to him, was recommended for the post of Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat, sources said. Earlier, Azad was considered to be the front-runner for the job.

Though the orders have not been signed as yet, sources said the selection panel that includes Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and the National Security Advisor, had made its recommendation for these posts.

Ibrahim, who would otherwise have retired in September next year, would have a two year tenure as Director of IB who is considered to be the topmost in the pecking order of the Indian Police Service.

Born in 1953, Ibrahim belongs to Kanpur and is son of a state administrative service officer who was later promoted to the IAS. He served as private secretary to the late Madhavrao Scindia when he was the Railway Minister in the late eighties. Later, he worked with former Home Minister and chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

In the IB, he has handled the Kashmir desk, Delhi desk and was also posted in Jaipur for about four years. Later, he was posted at the Indian High Commission in London as Minister (Coordination) from where he returned to the headquarters only last year.

Meanwhile, the name of Alok Joshi is believed to have been cleared for the post of head of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s external intelligence agency. Like, the top position at IB, the post of RAW chief is also falling vacant at the end of next month. Joshi is a 1976-batch officer of Haryana cadre.

Sources said another contender for the top job in the IB, S Jai Raman, who is of the same batch as Ibrahim, was likely to be appointed as head of the National Police Academy in Hyderabad. Formal announcements in this regard is expected to come in a day or two.

On Thursday, the government had appointed current ITBP DG Ranjit Sinha as the new CBI director. Sinha would take charge in December after A P Singh retires in November. After Sinha’s appointment, selection to the other high-profile jobs of Director, IB, and RAW chief were being expected any day. All the three positions have a fixed tenure of two years.

We must does not care if he is muslim or hindu. :) If u have the capability, come on take up the mantle and hunt the nbad guys.
All the best to Ibrahim :)

His religion is irrelevant if he is the best man for job is all that is important. India is not a nation that needs to make token appointments they are done on merit alone.

.
our constitution demands the best man for the job irrespective of the caste, creed and religion of the concerned person!even if a Jarwa person(a primitive living tribe of India) gets higher education and if he/she's found to be fit for a post in the Govt.,he/she will get the job!that's the basic difference between India and the other "so called" true democracies in the world!:)

.
Stop highlighting religion. It should not matter anymore in India. As long as you are Indian and patriotic you will get the job. At least this is the mindset we should all cultivate from now on.
