Asia Bibi's husband asks US President Donald Trump for refuge

Eight years of solitary confinement and separation from family is not suffering? And counting.

That is how our Justice works, people who have committed minor crimes have to go through a long and painful justice procedure .. and as for sensitive cases its not just in Pakistan , it happens everywhere .. In Guantanamo some prisoners are not even have that luxury to have fair trail or have any access to any kind of justice .

Leaving the attempted whataboutery aside, what possible reason would there be to keep anyone confined despite being exonerated by the Supreme Court?

I think its best to keep her there for her own safety , she has threats on her life and specially after cases like Mumtaz qadri , any Crazy Police Constable can shoot her and become a Martyr for these Religious extremist .. I want Justice in Pakistan to prevail , you can free a convict on lack of evidence , but i wont like if a innocent get punished on basis of false accusation .

I agree that justice should prevail. Let due process complete.

That already happened. We are in undue process mode now: the law has released Aasia while the administrative state demands she remain fettered.

I pointed that out above. However, CPT 101 applies, still. :D

I am amazed at the outrage some people are showing at their request. I mean what in the world do people expect of them?

Almost a decade in jail and when she finally get acquitted, a group people close down the country demanding not only that this man's wife be killed but openly demanding the murder of the judges who acquit her. The guys who actually called for the assassination of the SC judges and rebellion in the army did not get thrown into jail immediately. They were able to negotiate a settlement with the government.

What hope would they even have of surviving here for long here?

As much as I love my country, I am not blind to the situation of others. I understand where these people are coming from. A whole lot more have left this country for a whole lot less. At least for these people, they have as legitimate a reason at it can get for seeking asylum.

I wonder how high the patriotic spirit of some of those considering the husband's appeal would be if one of their loved ones (wife/mother/daughter) had gone through all that she has. Even add to the mix that she isn't Muslim so this charge would seem doubly unfair to them.

It's probably how Muslims here react when they hear about hindu majority punishing non-hindu minorities for not respecting the hindu religion.

I don't think you can compare the case of Aasia Bibi with that of the Guantanamo "detainees". Aasia is a civilian who lives in a land formally under law whereas the men interred in Guantanamo are in more of a legal limbo as un-uniformed non-state combatants: They were not detained due to popular pressure on U.S. streets but because of their deadly hostility to the U.S., either real or suspected and the law and court system is much less defined for these men and is a kind of work in progress. The detainees have military legal representation, some have civilian representation, many have been released, etc.

Were you not aware of all this and more? Did you not throw in Guantanamo as a distraction from Pakistan's own failures?

Another move to destabilize Pakistani govt. and push it against the wall to start some sort of civil war.
This proves Asia bibi judgement was due to international pressure.

This is the level of our 'Pakistani' minorities.
I think we should revoke his passport and make him stateless. When you need to beg from others why keep that nations passport.
Funny part is most of the family has been relocated to Ontario, Canada. And he is appealing to Trump.

They are not concerned how their fellow Pakistanis will suffer or what other communities will face. They feel international pressure will work again.

TLP is a political force if she goes these goons will forget about who was Asia bibi and will go after to destroy the Govt.
295-c blasphemy law was enacted so that people don't take the issue in their hands.
It will be rendered meaningless and vigilantism will become the norm.
Pakistan Govt. taking action on religiousmiscreeants should also take action on the foreign funded liberals' provocation on the social media. Bothof these extremist jerks are trying to damage us. OVerseas ch*tiyas who kepp other countries passports should be treated as foreigners.

No doubt Bibi Aasia and her family are obviously milking this opportunity.

Pakistanis from all walks of life have a big part in this situation. From Mullahs to liberals. Every segment of the society has played their role in the destruction.

That is the reason why I keep saying that every individual is part of the problem in our country. We are a greedy and selfish people. We lack character. From top to bottom. This situation wasn't created overnight.

Unless we become a united people who look beyond ethnicity, language, creed and everything else this will continue to happen. Outsiders will stoke the fire and we will burn in it like helpless sinners.

'Milking' this opportunity?

Her five kids grew up without their mother, who was in jail for decade. Her husband had his kids all to himself. Add to that the fear of getting lynched by Qadri types all these years.

Yup. Milking. They are really milking tgis opportunity.

I wonder how many hear would like opportunities like these to milk.

that is even worse, you detain non America citizen in an American jail for Years without giving them access to Justice or Fair trail ? All of them are combatants ? where is fair trail ? why not them chance ? to afraid that truth will come out ? Remember the Abu Garib ?

I am very much Aware of what US do when it comes to Justice , just because you show everything that shines doesn't means there are no Loop holes in US Justice departments, you can't even justice to all those unarmed Black people killed by White Police officers .. as for Pakistan , Asiya is waiting for her name to be cleared or convicted we have our own justice system which is far from Perfect, but we don't need American Lecture of Justice :)

send them to china and thats about it

I have already explained my feelings on this situation in another post:

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/asia...-trump-for-refuge.585305/page-3#post-10917717

We have failed collectively in many aspects. Yes the woman has endured. Probably because it was her own doing to a certain degree or probably because it was due to the treachery of others. I don't know the facts to make any judgement. However, I think that enough is enough.

Having said that, don't tell me that Aasia Bibi isn't being pushed behind the scenes by anti-state elements. Aasia Bibi should stay in Pakistan despite all the hardships and problems she has faced. This would be a great statement to many sides belonging to different camps.

You didn't acknowledge much of what I wrote so I conclude that you are, indeed, merely posing as a palliative for your feelings. I understand but my sympathy is limited because you're set on unjustly painting me and my country with tar. That doesn't improve your country's situation in the slightest, it's more like smoking opium.
