Mohammad Ashraful, the former Bangladesh captain, has been suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), until the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit submits its report on investigations into suspected match-fixing and spot-fixing allegations in this year's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The BCB president Nazmul Hassan said Ashraful, who represents Dhaka Gladiators, had admitted to his involvement in "fixing" during the BPL. "As Ashraful has confessed his involvement in fixing to the ACSU team, so he should not be allowed to play any level of cricket until we get a full report of the investigation," Hassan told reporters.

One of Bangladesh's most experienced cricketers, Ashraful played 61 Tests and captained the national side in 13 Test matches, 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is between 2007 and 2009. During a career which extended from 2001 to 2013, he scored 2,737 runs in Test matches at an average of 24. He has also played 177 ODIs and scored 3,468 runs at an average of 22.23.

Another one down. Sad how these "%##" are ruining the rep of cricket......

This menace of ‘match fixing’ needs to be eradicated from the game of cricket. The game will start losing its fans unless something is done soon.

No Sir The Game will not loose its charm. Atleast in South Asia where people have nothing better for entertainment (only cricket and bollywood is there). You will find this reality when Champion Trophy starts in few days.

So nothing to worry The Cricket Administrators will just put a new paint on the rotting wall and tell that world that every thing is hunky dory. I give it 1 month for everything to get back to as usual. As tragic as it may sound thats the reality.

It was only a matter of time. Infact Bangladeshi cricketers are the most vulnerable.

So no surprises here

Bangladeshi players took money for loosing a match? Against whom? Barbados and Antigua?

The 28-year-old Ashraful was allegedly paid about one million Taka (USD 12,800) to lose the February 2 match between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Kings. The cheque he was given later bounced, according to the local media.

He was also allegedly involved in fixing another match 10 days later, against the Barisal Burners, which his team lost by seven wickets, the reports said.
