nice and all, but am i exaggerating when i think that releasing such footage and info will only help terrorists/intruders once they see these footages? it takes the element of surprise away, imo.

I get your point - but on the other hand, it scares potential intruders off who would otherwise think it was a child's play to enter a facility protected by this system.

They are forced to show off the system because people have to know what they are buying. Nobody buys a pair of shoes without knowing what they look like.
