ASEAN summit on Myanmar to be held in Jakarta: Brunei and Malaysia

Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is the last sultan and the only sultan in the world. Also Brunei is the only remaining sultanate? This is also the longest surviving sultanate it has existed since the 12-century with the same house ruling it.. Talk about longevity.. It would be like if the Ottoman empire, Mamluki Sultanate, Abbasid, Delhi sultanate, Al-andalus, Ming Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, etc etc still existed

It is his son that I think will replace him some day, during Sultan visit to Indonesia, he brought him as well

It means the tradition goes on. It is an epic family and sultanate they outlasted time itself. It is something that would make it's founder Muhammad Shah of Brunei proud his seed lasted for so long in power..

By the way regarding the crown prince I noticed him last time when his father meet President Xi and his wife he was also there.

He does have to good visuals for a political leader tho he looks more like a moviestar.

That map is kind of strange. I thought Wa controls Muse opposite of Ruli. In any case, Wa has a standing army of 40k with 60k reserves so no one will mess with them. Wa area is stable. There's mobile and internet because they use Chinese services and the economy is working because they use RMB. Don't think Wa will take sides in this conflict.
Would it be fair to say that the Wa is the most powerful of the ethnic enclaves in Myanmar?

Ya strongest by far. They have the largest and best equipped army, strongest economy and backing of China.

Only three ASEAN leaders that are not attending the meeting, two of them similar military dictator regime, Thailand and another one party communist rule in Laos, the other is Philippine, Duterte, that has supported Myanmar in cases like Rohingya.

ASEAN has 10 members.

This is the meeting will take place, ASEAN Secretary office, South Jakarta

from western media coverage of the ASEAN meeting, the western voices are unsatisfied. Seems like they are unhappy with ASEAN for even talking to the Myanmar Junta. There are no realistic solution that doesn't involve talking to the Myanmar Junta and western governments has to understand. Therefore I believe the west would rather Myanmar become a failed state.

When I read Myanmar media, there is no evidence any military zone commander will defect -- which is the only way to take down the junta.

Moreover, China (not evidence) seems to be buying of the warlords quite well, they are not upping the conflict by a lot.

Also army has prepared for the rubbish of Aung San. Capital now in Naypidaw not Yangon. Naypidaw a lot of loyalist and army family.

Anything happen in Yangon is no longer significant.
