Let me begin by saying that the Gujarat Riots are a big blot on on our country and it should not have happened at all.

I may admire Modi, as a capable administrator, for the development that Gujarat is achieving but Godhra will always be a stain that we have to bear for all our lives. Now the SC has appointed the SIT for investigating his role,let us wait for the results, as this will a totally impartial probe.

Regarding the Sachar Committee report it makes for avery good reading. It was set up by the UPA Govt. as a sort of Fact Finding mission on the state of all the minorities, not just muslims.

What was very surprising was the state of muslims in West Bengal, a state that had been ruled for 2 decades by secular Left Front. On every factor Muslims fared very badly and in fact over the 20 year period their condition be it employment, education, life expectancy, had actually plummeted.

Compared to them Muslims in Gujarat were way ahead of the National Average.

This was indeed an eye opener. Just by counting the number of riots does not make you secular. Just by giving lip service and slogans you do not become secular.

Absoltely right. Its worth noting Gujarat riot was not the only riot in india.

The biggest problem with the approach of bjp's untouchability, championed by the left mainly, is that its dishonest. i liked many good things done during bjp's rule, particularly on the economic front, the way relations with US improved etc. by branding india's second biggest party as some kind of terrorist organisation, one is only doing a disservice to India.

Do communists belive in the idea of india, thats another topic now. arundhati roy wants india to break, she thinks india is not even a democracy, well, that may be ok for commies, not for me.

You're misusing statistics. It maybe true that the economic indicators of Muslims are better in Gujarat than in West Bengal, but the fact is, Gujarat is a richer state than West Bengal, the average Gujarati is better off than an average Bengali.

Kerela is the only state that has achieved 98% literacy, this was only possible because of Left policies. Please check the indicators of Muslims in Kerela.

Communalism means discrimination based on religion. Unless you can prove that the life of an average muslim was worse than an average Hindu living in the area, because of direct left policies, you can't making any assertion based on the sachar community report.

You're Patriotism is blinding you fateh. If calling the BJP fascist means that India's image will go down, so what? Humanity matters much more than Patriotism.

You are missing my point, yes all culprits in all kids of violence should be punished in india, its a pre condition for india to develope. my family is in india, how can i justify violence against its citizens (or any civilians anywhere on earth)? surely calling gujarat riots what they are does not hurt my sense of patriotism, doing politics in the name of the riots is different tho. you have been throwing the number of dead as 2000 in gujarat riots, there is no proof of that number, even the rehab package by the centre is using some other numbers to go ahead, surely there is no need to inflate the numbers, or execute stunts like the banerjee committee? come on, stop labelling people and seeing evil in them. all parties have failed in one time or another, congress the most.

Yes there are absolute morons in BJP, as are in all other parties, surely you know that. i'm not asking you to vote for BJP (I never have), but stop supporting people who want to break india, hate india, spread poison about india across the world in the name of opposing bjp. two different things.

She did not criticize the alleged human rights abuse nor she raised issues about the level of violence in the valley !! She quoted directly the above quote !

That clearly states that she wants India to be broken up. No other Indian in living memory has uttered a statement like that.

A million Modi's and a billion Thakerays are a trillion times better than that anti national !

If anyone supports her, then they support the breakup of India !

But it did lead to the perhaps the darkest incident in Modern India - The Gujarat riots. Do you have any idea how disillusioned the minorities became after Gujarat? And why wouldn't they be. Thankfully, the scars of Gujarat seem to be healing.

Actually the darkest incident in modern India was the Sikh Holocaust, sponsored by the Congress in 1984.

Gujarat 2002 had much fewer casualties. There have been several incidents of rioting with more casualties than Gujarat - for example the Bhagalpur massacre, sponsored by the Kangressis and Lalu.

Communists are allied with confirmed hard-core terrorist Madani in Kerala but somehow communists are secular. In UP, Kangressis are taking support of a thug who had offered reward for killing President of the US. But somehow Kangressis remain secular.

Those who keep harping on the Gujarat riots should introspect deeply to find out what causes their selective amnesia.
