Arranged Marriage or Love Marriage?

Arranged or Love marriage both have same after affects of wife terrorism :D

.
Its more like asking, would you like to be killed(Arranged) or prefer to suicide (Love)??

How about Arranged Love Marriage. :victory:

It depends you know, you might find someone really worth spending your life with then you should definitely opt for her.

But on the other hand, if your parents suggests someone who you are smitten by on your first meeting, then you can also be on the right path.

Its about compatibility and attraction, how you find someone is secondary so keep an open mind.

After doing an extensive research I came to the conclusion, arrange marriage offers better deal than love marriage!

There is also another type which is the Love Arranged Marriage where you tell your choice to your parents who in turn approach the parents of the girl and arrange your marriage. Somthing that happened to me although not as simple as it sounds :)

Yup, like my grandfather.

He saw my grandmother at a party in Karachi, this was the 1940's and he fell in love on first sight.

He enquired about her and found that she lived in India, so he travelled to India and went to their house, knocked on the door and my grandma's father opened the door.

My grandfather said that I am here to ask for your daughters hand in marriage. My grandma's father got angry and said, things do not work this way and how do we know who you are and what your intentions will be.

My grandfather explained to him everything that needed to be explained and he said that as per wishes, he will get his family to come and ask for my grandmothers hand.

Well he did and they got married happily settling in Lahore. :smitten:

Love, something I don't quite understand I'll admit, may have a shorter shelf life than marriage. You might want to consider that. And whether you wish to carry on with the marriage when love has expired.

I think this is an interesting debate, but the thread starter has made their mind up before having opened the thread, making this place undeserving of that debate. I think Assisted Marriage has the distinct advantage of being able to fix you up with someone even if you're incapable of finding a partner for yourself, or asocial or old. Do these kind of people deserve to be with somebody, I'm not sure but I'm not the one to decide.

Listen to your parents and go for arrange marriage and live a happy married life...!!

P.S : I don't want anyone to jump after me...I just gave my opinion...:)

Well, personally I am in my second "love" marriage. My first love marriage lasted 17 years and my present, second, love marriage is now 25 years old. I think an arranged marriage would work if the "arrangers" have a good marriage themselves. So, if my parents had a good marriage, which mine did, then I might trust them to arrange a marriage for me. BUT, IF my parents were really screwed up! Why would I let them screw up my marriage too? So, I think arranged marriages require that the parties doing the arranging, i.e. both sets of parents, are qualified. How do you know if they are qualified? Well, NO one may be qualified to choose two people for marriage, but, at least, they should both have made a good thing of their marriage to even be, possibly, qualified to choose for you. IMH (western) O.

I would disagree with that because I feel parents wouldn't want their children to make the same mistakes they themselves did. I'm obviously talking about the ones that care about their children.

I have never seen such high divorce rate in North India and Pakistan. This all marriage thingy is scam now a days, Just to get US/UK/CA visa parents force their child to marry xyz. 1st this has impacted society, too much pressure on expat Indians/Pakistanis to find girl/boy for their relatives (Recently UK family was killed in Pakistan just coz UK party didnt agreed to marry their daughter with Pak boy), if you fail Rishta khatam. 2nd Dowry is still a huge factor in arranged marriage (Corolla's, Cash, Gold lol laalach). 3. Less oppurtunities n Corruption caused desperation in Desi's, they just wanna settle abroad even if they had to pretend fake marriage on Student Visa in developed nations.

Trust me Desi will make full use of Gay marriage's loophole. Marry your Uncle and Go Amreeka. :azn:

So OP should make sure if his parents arranged marriage for him with Pakistani Girl that she is not marrying just for US stamp on passport. :P
