Arranged Marriage or Love Marriage?

i hate marriages - its a pseudo facade on a relationship kept for society.

marriage is a mathematical blunder too - its simple

1 vs everyone else ???????

of-course i would not like to constrain myself to ONE.

and i dont like much of those girls with culture and character - they make you have negative vibes and their evil eyes when they look at you sends a chill through the spine.-
I am sorry if i did not understand correctly but did you mean you cannot live the whole of your life with one husband only or?

.
Ok, you're lucky man. I'm 22 living in US and my cousin is 16 living in Pak. Embarrassing part was that my parents talked to and had convinced me that my cousin would be a good wife for me. I was naive and happily agreed because I knew my parents would be happy with my decision. My studies kept me really busy so I didn't have much time to think this through. Thankfully some months later my parents told my Uncle and Aunt and that same day I told my parents that I can't marry my cousin and would not be happy with her. Although I received emotional blackmail, I was still able to convince my parents to allow me to marry someone of my own choice.

Now my parents are taking me to Pak just to visit my Uncle and Aunt in June, so it's definitely going to suck for me. I've told my parents that I only find educated girls my age or older attractive and that I'm not looking for a wife until I'm done with my studies.

This reminds me of Bangla movies possibly from the 70's or the 80's. Typically in one of those types of movies, if the son worked far away and didn't want to marry the girl of parents choosing, they would trick the son by sending a telegram ( for young folks telegrams existed in this world at some point), " Mother ill, come sharp."

Good luck to you buddy.

Whats so Ewww about it?-
Its a cultural thingy- and its not like one marrying his/her sister/brother :)

In our culture a cousin is equivalent to a brother/sister.

Anyways it has been scientifically proven that marrying a relative is not good for your gene pool or something like that

well even in marriage, if you can't stay together you can always seek for divorce... just like living-partners decides to get separate

but in the end, everyone has their own way of thinking so :)

Peace

Yup- about genetic deficiency or some thing-- like i said before it could well happen to kids born to parents who were not cousins-

Some Facts you all should know-

Children of non-related couples have a 2-3% risk of birth defects, as opposed to first cousins having a 4-6% risk- In plain terms first cousins have at a 94 percent + chance of having healthy children.
Thats not a very big difference- to be considered seriously-

It is estimated that 20 percent of all couples worldwide are first cousins. It is also estimated that 80 percent of all marriages historically have been between first cousins!
We are all cousins. No two people are more distantly related than 50th cousins.
Historically we are very progressive species- if chances were not that rare- we could all well have genetics faults by now-

Albert Einstein married his first cousin. And so did Charles Darwin, who had exceptional children.
YeeHaaaa

Franklin D. Roosevelt, the longest serving US president in history married his cousin
:smokin:

Leviticus 18 lists all forbidden sexual relationships. Cousin relationships are not included.
see- its not that bad to be discriminated-

God commanded many cousins to marry, including Zelophehad's 5 daughters, Eleazar's daughters, Jacob (who married both Rachel and Leah, first cousins), and Isaac and Rebekkah (first cousins once removed)
It is likely that Joseph and Mary -- Christ's earthly parents were first cousins.
No Comments

Current studies indicate that cousin couples have a lower ratio of miscarriages -- perhaps because body chemistry of cousins is more similar. The verdict is still out.
Now thats some thing we should look into- it will be totally another thing to study why the rates of miscarriages are increasing in this world-

Here is some thing more interesting-
Robin Bennett, a University of Washington researcher who led a major NSGC stud on cousin marriage, has said that much hostility towards married cousins constitutes 'discrimination'

Dont be a racist
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Aaahhhh, statistics, they hide more than they can reveal? ;)

Or, in other terms, children of first cousins have a 100% greater chance as compared to non-related couples of having birth defects, a big difference :)

Not to be rude or some thing and no offense meant--- i personally think that- if you do not marry some one you love or have sex with-- then there is no difference between us civilized humans and uncivilized animals--
To believe in some thing like that- one must believe he is evolved from an animal- i.e believing in Darwin- Big Bang-- Evolution--

Well, I believe that Homo Sapiens are animals. But I also believe in marriage. So what does that make me?

brother you are wrong here - marriage have nothing to being civilized ,

yeh its a social phenomenon. why does one need to marry is just to create some-kind of acceptance for society.

if i like somebody- i like em stay with them, live withthem why put a tag of marriage ? yeh you can go for divorce , but would i ? i can just be with them. and commitment to one person is more of a personal choice.

because of a marriage i wont like to commit to one person, i would rather lurk around and till the time i find that one person , One's physical need should be suffixed.

I dont know where you have come from with this - 100% greater chance figure- i think you have to make your calculations again- :what:

2-3% risk of birth defects, as opposed to first cousins having a 4-6% risk

Take the higher values and Percentage difference is just 3% :azn:
i.e 3% more chance-
