Army will continue to facilitate Balochistan’s development: COAS

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Saturday that Pakistan Army shall continue to facilitate development efforts in Balochistan, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During a visit to Awaran, COAS was briefed about the security situation and community assistance initiatives by Army and Frontier Constabulary in southern Balochistan.

He was also briefed that almost 150,000 individuals have benefitted from medical initiatives including an active partnership with civil administration to enhance the capacity of DHQ Awaran.

About 200 students from Awaran are also being provided free education, with boarding and lodging by Army and FC. Recently, a new school has also been established by FC Balochistan.

COAS lauded efforts of Army, FC and other LEAs which have resulted in improved security, and law and order situation.

Later, the COAS also met local elders and notables, who appreciated Pakistan Army's efforts for security and development in the area.

COAS acknowledged and thanked the locals for their support to security forces.

Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz.

As much as I respect the Army but isn't this a joint effort or responsibility of the Government? Armed forces are used for protection and defensive purposes of a Country. Surely it's local council/government's job to ensure they aid and facilitate improvements required for public services/infrastructure of regional/provincial affairs?

The Army is incredibly generous considering they have the least budget in comparison to global Armed Forces. Pakistan not having favourable and perky neighbours (Afghanistan,India and Iran isn't reliable 100%) the focus should be securing, training, preparing, weaponary, missionary mercenaries on troops for any form of combat deemed necessary.

More pressure needs to be on the Government to do what they're supposed to do. This isn't a luxury, it comes with the package.

But you do agree The Armed Forces institute plays a separate role to the Government and if the Government is incompetent then the public needs to raise these concerns and it should be addressed.

Government directs more development towards large cities where they have a tighter grip, such as Quetta.

The areas where the army is leading the development is hard to reach, has little 'government control', and etc... The army is already deployed there, has significant influence and control: hence why the Army is better for these 'micro developments' in these "tough areas".

The army is also voluntarily doing it, out of their own choice. Many soldiers give up months of salary to build the locals schools, clinics, water facilities and etc...

Unfortunately such is not the case. Right now Military establishment is doing everything! While pol parties are busy selling its politics to a huge sea of illiterate and uninformed masses. the PM is selling his politics because his over grown arse is sinking the state and he has to hide his corruption.

With such vacuum of decent leadership the role has to be filled by someone, or the state will collapse like Syria.
