Army to unveil futuristic Rambos next year

The Above Picture is TAVOR and the one Below is Indian Multi Caliber Weapon

I have to disagree with you sir, i dont believe that the second rifle is Indian Multi caliber weapon..The last thing i have seen is the MSMC and it had a rugged design than a smooth western rifle and this rifle has a smooth high quality composite made design that has some relation with Belgian F2000 variant with UBGL..correct me if i was wrong here :)

Sir with all due respect IA is not totally interested in indigenous weapons even if they are superior. Example: Arjun. Which primary/second line gadgetries are talking about?

But the tenders don't indicate that. India is the only country where even an indigenous solution is available still the armed forces float global tenders.

Leave It , Lets Not get deep into Such things, It ends up too silly sometimes, Global Tenders are Floated Not rejecting India, The Purpose of Army is to equip main stream Weaponry obsolete proof for atleast 20-30 Years, And I personally do not think India is there to Guarantee us that...

Yes i have seen that before..but there is no official report on similiar rifle..i believe that, if they had created one then they will surely put it for a display especially such a Well crafted one like that..the rifle picture in the F-INSAS poster may be an example for multi caliber AR same like the whole banner pics..thats why i asked you for a confirmation

I would really like to see prototypes for a new rifle. I'm hoping it's a bull-pup. Anyone got any info on this?

well....a bull-pup has some short-falls too...
a)lesser effective killing range
b)poisonous sling-shot emmissions closer to the soldier's face...

while the bull-pups are famous for their lesser recoil and better handling...
so we need a mix of two assault rifles to be serving in the forces...both with some serious stopping power.

The pic is from primary DRDO lab for small armament research and forefront lab of F-INSAS programme ie ARDE, Pune. So the pic can't be wrong. They have displayed it or similar rifle in earlier DEFEXPO.

Considering how old the movie is.. What does 'Futuristic Rambo' mean?
IMO The F-INSAS programme is failing. I'd heard a couple of years back the new weapon systems would begin induction by 2011. Nothing yet. DRDO should refrain from being over ambitious.

If a project is one year late, its strange perception and logic!!!! What about the other similar projects around the word? Aren't they late!!! Why people are so sensitive?

Nothing yet.
They are displaying systems in defence expo.

Oh cmon. Look at the prototype for gods sake. does it look like a gun mass deployable on the battlefield to you?

Well for one, we purchased romanian AKs for 90 odd dollars a piece. We do not have the funds to equip the second biggest army in the world with such a sophisticated multi calibre weapon system.
Make a simpler sturdier weapon. And create a programme like the SOPMOD. So soldiers who specifically need the add-ons (grenade launcher, thermal sights, red dot etc.) for particular missions can equip themselves.
cheaper, lighter and more efficient.
We should be looking at a weapon that will be the backbone of our forces for another 30 years. Witch changing warfare, a highly modifiable, simple rifle is the only way to go.

Dude, We are not going to do in in one year or two. This transaction will take minimum ten years and IA vows to equip all the soldiers by 2020/22. So its ten years starting from 2012.

I think it was just the display and the actual gadgets are not yet ready. If the gadgets are ready, then it would be a foolish decision not to start the production because we also have world war II era industries especially OFBs and also the number in which we require is too much. Just look at INSAS, it was ready in 1998 and till now we haven't supplied all our infantrymen with this rifle.

The funny thing with DRDO is that, the demand of INSAS was placed in 1980 and it was ready in 1998. It took them 18 years to build that ugly gun and by the time it was inducted, army said we want something new.

I don't know what govt. and DRDO thinks but a good weapon, BP jacket and Helmet for our armed forces is really important because they are the one who are putting their life on the line to protect our borders.

i totally agree ,look at germany's H & K keeping the M4 design in mind they built a much better HK416,HK 417 which are now being used by delta force and rangers because its an M4 having characteristics of AK47 this gun too doesnt jam in sand and water and keeps firing.
IMO this weapon by DRDO has a very weird design, secondly multi caliber changes are not easy even the experienced europeans and americans havent ventured beyond 2 caliber change's in rifles like the SCAR,LWRC's SABR,beowulf by alexander arms because when you change the caliber the barrel also changes so DRDO thinking of 4 calibers isnt right.
