Army set to try more lethal T-90 tank

WRONG!!! Arjun has clearly beat the T-90 in every comparative trail conducted- this is a FACT. There were issues with the Arjun yes but they have now been rectified and the Arjun Mk2 is arguably one of the finest tanks in the world. The fact is though that as a MBT the Arjun is huge and very heavy just like the Abrams or Challenger. But because a huge number of T-90 and T-72 are in service or were ordered the infrastructure and support is all geared around 40 ton tanks not 55-60+ ton tanks so it will take time for the proper infrastructure to be put in place so the Arjun can be ordered in larger numbers. Additionally at ~$10 million USD a peice the Arjun is signifcantly more expensive than the T-90 but naturally more capable- time will only tell whether the IA is happy to take the leap to order greater numbers of Arjuns and develop the infrastructure and support packages that go with this beast but to call the Arjun a failed project is incredibly inaccurate.

y u care to explain to ppl who have nothing to show in term of developing military hardware...... they hardly understand difference between builidng on ToT and Developing something from scratch ......Thats y anytime a glitch comes they term it as a Failure

For namesake only it was inducted.IA MBT still and will always remain t-series ones. thar desert s doesnot see that many tank battles.Tank battles will mostly be concentrated around jammu-sialkot sectors, plains of punjab and northrn rajasthan around ganganagar sector. And arjun will hardly be deployed in these sectors due to weight issue and canal defenses in pakistan.

Arjun has its own railroad wagons and bridgelayers for crossing short distances and infrastructure projects are underway to lay more powerful and longer bridges in importan locationst. That "won't be deployed" words are crap, just read some history and learn how 65+ ton M1 Abrams triumphed in the Gulf Wars, sometimes by making use of Iraqi infrastructure originally designed for T-62/72.

Another thing trolls forgot to quote -

Comparison of Arjun, T-90 and T-72 in ground pressure.

T-72: 0.90 kg/cm2
T-90: 0.87 kg/cm2
Arjun: 0.84 kg/cm2

And Arjun's (Mk-1) suspension system is as good as that of Abrams. The Mk-1A and Mk-2 have many improvements in the newer versions.

And btw, it was inducted to replace T-55s, which it did.

Nice reply mate
But i hope you know You are waisting your time to reply such comment ;)

Arjun is also being inducted, T-90 is light weight and Arjun is Heavy weight.

T-90 is used in desserts and Arjun can be used in non-dessert terrains.

Friend, Arjun, T-90, T-72 or then any other tank can work & fight in any terrain, thats the whole purpose of a TANK!

And btw, the new T-90AM acquisition is for the Chinese border -

Arjun Mk-2 would also be deployed at NE front in the coming years, until then, the new T-90AM/MS "Armata" will do on the Chinese front, an excellent opponent for NORINCO's ZTZ-99 series MBTs.

As per my sources in Army who deal day to day with tanks. Arjun never beat T-90, it is false propoganda spread by some to benefit PSU. However he said Arjun is a decent tank that will be used in some defensive positions.

I think the IA on the China front will be happy to get this new tank -

The T-72s are better deployed on the Pak front as well as regular T-90s and Arjun Mk-1. A special
version of T-90 and Arjun Mk-1A/Mk-2 is the best option for NE-based IA forces.

Pakistan needs to concentrate heavily on Anti-Tank missiles.

There is no way Pakistan can win an armored engagement with Indian Tanks, the odds are too lopsided.

The only way to halt Indian superiority is to bring a saturation of anti-tank missiles to the battlefield just as Hezbollah did against Israel in 2006 or Egypt against Israel in 1973.

Still Pakistani Army is way ahead of Indian Army. The only thing i would admit is our Air force and Navy, on the other hand being way behind....

About your Anti Tank inquiry, we have plenty of them and have developed smart systems for it.

Now if only they could develop some of those "smart" systems for some of the posters here.......

Well that tactic may have worked in the '73 war, because anti tank missiles were a new concept, and armor officers were not prepared for it. Nowadays tanks are much smarter, with active and passive defensive measures against missiles. Tank commanders are wiser too - any armor thrust will also be accompanied by a large number of infantry and mechanized infantry, who will take care of the ATGM danger by sanitizing the area of enemy infantrymen. There will be observation of the battlefield by UAVs as well as reconnaissance helicopters. In other words, it will be a combined arms assault, not just a column of tanks. A large number of hand launched missiles wont tilt the balance as it did back then. In the 2006 Lebanon war, the total number of Israeli tanks destroyed in this manner was 5. The damage the tanks did to the territory that they fought in (Lebanon) was immense.

Yes you can sleep in peace, since one Pakistani armyman = 10 indian ones, or whatever the recent statistics are.

Ask your own BSF

So now your army has sunk to craving praise from our police units? I knew the BSF scared the hell out of Bangladeshis, but even the pak army?

Please quit trolling, this thread is about the T-90, and its latest variant. Unless you have something to say about that, other than how your armymen will blow it up by sneezing at it, please consider leaving the thread alone.
