What's new

Army scuttles Arjun trials to push through T-90 purchase

then you do not have the updated knowledge about arjun
1.outdated designs: the design is absolute of a 21st century mbt... i think you have seen the pictures of an earlier prototype and not the the series produced
2.weakness in armour: hahah..the drdo developed kanchan armour has been able to withstand the fire of t-72 from point blank range without era.Even indian army has acknowledged the the armour of arjun is better than t-90
3.gun with low accracy: check out the other threads on arjun, army now wants drdo developed rifled gun than the russian made gun as russia is not giving us its gun technology and drdo's gun is better
4.low mark in obstacle crossing yes,but that problem has been fixed 5yrs ago,now not even the so called generals are not complaining about it
5.underpowered engine which was replaced years ago
6.short range mobility no problem with arjun's mobility,no one said it was "too heavy to move"
7.overweight: this is the sole issue why the IA is complaining, but never said it was immobile... then whats got to do with "weight"??? one would definitely think about the intentions then
an lastly, arjun was "tailor made" for the indian dessert,so a pissant soldier has been able to drive it on a "FLAT" desert ground.on the other hand t-90 suffered sunstrokes in the same desert ground...engine malfunctioned, computerised system failed..so how its better???

Stop replying to Chini troll...

Calling me 'son' won't make your backward country any better.

220 million a piece is still pretty "affordable" for us :azn:

F-35 is a fifth generation , single-engine aircraft. It is a new technology that is being built for export for the first time! Delays are expected.

"US" I though it was JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER. f16 + f18 + 1/2(f22) orgy. Turkey and Norway's on the line :help: 2015..........:undecided:

"Joint" is just in the name. What can Turkey , or Norway add in the actual project? It is WE who are closing down the gap between us and our allies by giving them a chance to work on this project.

Arjun design started when 3rd generation tanks did not exist. Naturally, we had to skip 2nd and 2.5 generation and jump to third generation.

and Arjun tanks have been inducted, while Altay is yet to be inducted.

Lool it'd been 40 years and being inducted now? Altay signed in 2008 design etc 2009-2010 its 2012 and we made a second prototype already of a quality tank, in 2016 maximum serial production so in 6-8 years max including design, prototype etc everything whole Arjun 40 years.

there will be a total of 1600 t90 tanks which will be include t90s &t90ms
and no more t90sssssssssssss

You don't get it do you, Arjun was never meant to be the tank it is now.

Originally Arjun meant to be like this:

Arjun was given serious and full attention in 80s when it seemed that Pak may buy M 1 Abrams and IA had no tank to counter it, nor Soviets could provide any tank capable as M1.

DRDO ran into numerous troubles as it had no experience of building MBT from scratch and they were trying to build a third generation MBT.

This delayed Arjun project.

Also when IA came to know that Pak wont order M1 Abrams, they lost interest in Arjun project.

A 2nd generation tank.

Why hadn't the 2nd gen Arjun ever got inducted? Because it was a failed 2nd gen tank back then. Instead of admitted failure, Indians just double-downed to make Arjun a 3rd gen tank. That failed too. Then next with Arjun MK1, which was again a failure that no one wanted. Now they are attempting to patch together the Arjun MK2. The army still doesn't want it. Arjun is a string of failure lingered over 40 years.
