Army scuttles Arjun trials to push through T-90 purchase

Only deserts. It is too heavy for roads and bridges.

Haven't you heard the Pressure per Inch is lower then Russian tank?

It seems like India spends Billions of dollars on producing Indigenous weapons systems and then discards them to buy foreign weapons. What a waste of resources. Wouldn't it be smarter to purchase foreign weapons complete with ToT and save all that money.

They are getting bribes , no Russian don't want india getting tank , US don't want india getting LCA. bribing gens and mod for the same.

Not true. United States doesn't build any fighter jet in the class of LCA. All of our planes are way superior than this failed junkard.

The Army I think is doing the right thing.

Notwithstanding all the claims of the DRDO it has not been able to get its act together. We do not want to get stuck with another Vijayanta.

Type-99 is to weak to combat Arjun, I dont know chinese tank's performane in desert whatsover.

T-90AM/SM "Armata"/"Tangil" are for the Chinese border - In a first, Indian tank bridages to defend Chinese border

The order for 124 + 118 Arjuns stays intact, with a scope for 236 more at a later date.

Differences in nature and purposes of these two tanks means they are not meant to slug it out in the same theater.

It is not going to happen and each will likely face a different means of threat. Such scenario will not happen so long we maintain our present status quo.

Each military power should have their own signature tanks, planes and boats and India is no different.
I wish India the best of luck with their Arjuns.

The army guys driving the tanks whose lives depend on them choose T90 over Arjun. What does that say about Arjun? Arjun is an inferior tank. It might look good for parades but falls apart in real combat. This proves again Arjun is a failed project. Time to move on. Don't drag it out like the failed LCA for another 20 years.

Us probably has remote control planes, not drones, that are superior to Lca.

LCA and Arjun are kept alive for national prestige. Not for military purpose

Somewhere I have this lurking feeling that Arjun will play second fiddle to T90 which will be mainstay of the army in near future. too many cost overruns has made its future untenable.

Right.

But cost overruns is not the alone reason; Arjun ,though good tank, weighs around 65 tons, while we need an MBT which will not weigh more than 50 tons; enabling it to march fast during battle, use most kind of bridges and ensuring minimum mobility problems.

In case of mobility, weight T 90 scores better.

Second reason is Arjun was meant to be answer to PA's M 1 Abrams and PA has no M 1 Abrams.

Units of Arjun MBTs may turned into Elite Tank Units, intended to take out incoming tanks using its superior firepower, long range 8KM range Lahat ATGM, and decent hunter killer mode; before enemy tanks are in position to fire at Arjuns.

Once enemy tank formations suffer significant damage and an breakthrough is achieved due to Arjun's attack, lighter and mobile T 90/T 90 MS MBTs will be released, along with air cover of LCHs, Apaches along with infantry to finish remaining enemy tanks and attack

In other words, Arjun may play the role which IS 2 played.

The signature tank for India is t-90. It's army had already decided

aww.. still butt hurt over snubbing of F-16 ?? Don't worry.. u guys can get F35 going by 2160

Well , we fielded a fighter that flew 3 DECADES ago against the best Europeans could offer! Does this tell you something?

We actually don't care about F-35 that much (other than the fact that is a money-maker for our companies) because we already dominate the world skies with our F-22As , B-2s , F-18s, and B-52s etc.

Good day.

Well Many US company backed out at last movement when giving consultancy for testing the LCA , after we called Europe company to provide test consultancy.

A)When US realised that India made the Plane all money going to Europe for engines etc then US came to india.

B) Thats why your F16 and F-18 dose not able to pass test by IAF , so india don't need that much junk.

C) Moreover if you head M777 is also failed to meet test parameters.

D) US made Parton Tanks which claimed to be far superior in world but when Indian blown them like cake you stop producing it. US product not always be superior as it made to be.
