so i was reading these Tom Clancy books (Guided Tours of various branches of U.S military) and it got me wondering, why is there a lack of authentic books like these on Pakistani military? i mean wouldn't it be great to know the training, traditions ,history etc of our various regiments, corps and units. As a civilian with a great passion for the PA i am positively dismayed to find no authentic work on our army's structure, its heritage, its working, how the insignia for units , battalions ,brigades etc are devised ,what are the nicknames and mottos of these units you know things like these.so i think it would help citizens a lot to better relate and identify with our military. what do you people think?
P.S: if there is any kind of work done in this regard kindly inform me about it.thanks

This is great idea.

Structure of Pak army is relatively straightforward. I am not sure what specific info are you looking for.

Pak army has a set number of corps. with specific headquarters geographically dispersed through out the country.

Now to the heritage. Wow. What a fantastic topic. And yes this should be researched and documented. We as nation have not done a good job documenting martial history and lineage of our region.

peace

There are many books on the Pakistani army. Just do your research. If you can lay your hands on the Green Book which is a officer's handbook you will be surprised by the information in it

There were attempts to give a more in-depth view of the military and how it operates.

The "We are soldiers" documentary that was done a few years back was an awesome attempt, but it was shut down for some funny reasons.

It wasn't a funny reason, that journalist from Dawn News back when it was English was elaborating far too much on platoon and company level tactics. You can still find a couple of episodes on Youtube, he is a great journalist but I think for some reason when he started that documentary he got a kick out of cos-playing solider too much.

i saw a couple of documentaries about indian army and their military academy on discovery.that was good stuff .why don't we make some of our own?

We do have documentaries, plenty of them. Good book banks stock DVDs from ISPR, you can also find them on Daily motion and Youtube.

Read what is "classified" and "de-classified" open information. It is as simple as that, if you don't get it then there is nothing I can do about that.
