KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, on Friday claimed to have detained a suspect allegedly belonging to the “Indian spying agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) linked” Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London and seized a large number of arms and huge quantity ammunition.
“The arms cache was hidden to carry out killings at behest of the MQM-London leadership,” a spokesperson for the paramilitary force said.
Acting on ‘credible information’, the paramilitary force apprehended the suspect in the Shoe Market area of Garden.
The suspect identified as Ateeq, alias Jheenga, belonged to ‘militant wing’ of the MQM-London that was “linked with Indian intelligence agency, RAW”, claimed the official.
The held suspect was allegedly involved in targeted killings, extortion, arson attacks, forcible collection of hides of sacrificial animals and arms stockpiling.
On pointing out of the held suspect, the Rangers recovered huge quantity of weapons hidden in an under-construction shop in Shoe Market.
“These arms were hidden for purpose of carrying out targeted killings and triggering lawlessness in the metropolis at the behest of the MQM-London leadership,” the Rangers said in a statement.
The seized arms and ammunition included two light machine guns, four submachine guns, one 22-bore sniper rifle, three 12-bore repeaters, one 222-bore rifle, three 30-bore Mausers, six 30-bore pistols, one 22-bore pistol and 5,809 rounds of different weapons.
