Armeena was speaking against the rumoured ban on PadMan in Pakistan, but some of her followers disagree with her stance
Armeena Khan has been under fire on Twitter today only because she suggested that periods aren't a big deal.
In her tweet, Armeena was referring to Pakistan's rumoured ban on Akshay Kumar's PadMan, which is based on the life of Indian hero Arunachalam Muruganantham who invented a low-cost pads to help women maintain hygiene during their periods.

Periods. What’s the big deal people?
The entire female population gets them including mother, sisters and daughters. They are as natural as the changing of the seasons. Let’s not make a big deal out of it. No need to ban films. They happen. Period.
Some of her Twitter followers disagree with her stance on the issue, saying that the film broaches a taboo topic that didn't need to be openly discussed. To this, Armeena had the following to say:

Are you a woman? How does this concern you? Do you get them? No?! Then not to be rude but this absolutely none of your genders business as to what we women choose to talk about openly or in secret. Yes?! Deal?
Some insisted periods are considered taboo because they could bring up awkward conversations with children. (Go figure.)

You guide them through the subject in an appropriate manner. If it’s your son then fine, if it’s someone else’s child, it’s the parents job. Sex is something completely different and you cannot equate the two. Completely different things
Others asked that if periods are a non-issue, why is there a film being made about it? Don't worry, Armeena had an answer to that too:

Why? Let’s stop making movies on shaadi and relationships and anything at all then because we already know about things. right?
One argued that Pakistani society simply may not be ready for a film that openly discussed periods and Armeena partly agreed:

Now this is something that I can probably understand. You’re right, it will take time but then it might never change. Judging from all the comments I’ve read on Instagram, it looks pretty bleak. https://twitter.com/amershah1/st
Some of the attacks on Armeena were quite vicious but she assured her trolls that she has plenty of support too:

I’ve seen some real vile attacks today on me through Instagram. However, don’t be too smug. The messages of support that I’ve been getting via direct messages just prove what I’ve suspected all along. The silent majority is forever watchful and supportive. We run the world
Her final take on the issue is:

Do not equate female bodily fluids to **** or copulation. You’re just highlighting the deepest, perverted, ugly recesses of your own mind. Peace out. I’ve said what I wanted to say. Abusive and hate speech will result in an instant blocked. You want to share something, be nice
Let's hope this is the last explanation Armeena has to offer.
