What's new

Armed Forces of Bosnia & Herzegovina

Republika Srpska ("RS") is a integral part of BIH, but they do have limited autonomy. For example, they have their own local police with some special support units ( SWAT teams). Similarly, the Federation ("FBIH") is the other integral part of BIH and they too have their own local police with special unites such as SWAT. Both entity police forces are government by the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the aforementioned agency is on the national level with HQ in Sarajevo, it oversees all of the police unites in the country. Additionally, on the national level we have the Border Police of Bosnia & Herzegovina, we have the State Inspection and Protection Agency ("SIPA") and the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH ("ISA/OSA") all have jurisdiction over the entire territory of BIH. The armed forces are on the national level as well.

Seems Serbs have three separate territories in the Balkans - Serbia, Srpska and they also claim Kosovo.

What seems is typically not as is ;) I can give you some education and your "seems" can become fact. Republika Srpska as I mentioned before is a integral part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which means they are similar to a state in the US or an autonomous region ( Catalonia, Kurdistan in Iraq), etc. from a legal and international perspective this entity has to go through the bureaucracy of the Bosnian state to get what it wants, and the bureaucracy is composed of other competing interests. Long story short, without compromise the Serbs in BIH cannot get what they want or act freely with the territories they inhabit. This leads us to question the intent of "separate territories" and or autonomy. Are you really a separate territory and or autonomous if you have no independent fiscal, military, and border policy? On your opinion about Kosovo, I can only say that third countries like Canada, Turkey, US exert more influence and indirect jurisdiction over Kosovo than Serbia could ever dream of, that land is long gone and Serbia isn't getting it back.

Now if you wish to further troll and derail this thread then save yourself the trouble and open a separate thread to discuss politics of BIH, this is purely a military forum showcasing the Armed Forces of Bosnia Herzegovina. The same armed forces who took an oath to protect the territorial integrity of BIH ;) and any external or INTERNAL threat.

Out of interest

What are Bosnia's current and future threat perceptions

Are you at peace with all the nations around you?

Do you see any country as hostile or as an enemy?

Are you able to defend your country and people considering what happened in the 1990s

Final question
In Pakistan we are a heavily armed society (for good or bad,) is the average Bosnian armed and allowed to keep personal weapons?

Current threat perceptions stem from greater geopolitical strategies in the Balkans. Remember, we are a small country of 3.8 million people, immediate threats in the region are minimal as neighboring countries (Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro) are not in a mood for war and quite frankly don't have the money or military offensive capability to fully attack Bosnia and Herzegovina. The threat truly stems from greater powers such as Russia, who traditionally takes a counter-Bosnian stance, while Turkey typically takes a pro Bosnian stance. Also the uncertainty of the future is a unpredictable threat, if the EU and or NATO disintegrate then we will be left to the mercy of the great world power at play in the region as would all countries in the region.

We currently have good and strong relations with neighboring countries in the region, even though the current Prime Minister of Serbia , Aleksandar Vucic visited Sarajevo during the war and shot sniper rifles at the civilians, but apparently he had a change of heart and is putting in a lot of effort to bridge the communication and political gap with Bosniaks. We trust him as far as we can throw him and Serbia ;)

We don't have any hostilities at the moment.

Gun ownership is regulated and licenses need to be issued. In rural areas people have AKs and other type of weapons but in cities people typically don't.

@Elvin Khushamded (Welcome) to PDF brother, yes I know I'm late. But seriously, good to see you here. I wish nothing but the best for you and your nation. I have special love for Bosniaks as I have relatives who are originally from Bosnia in my family. Look forward to reading your contribution.

Troll, your intellectual capacity speaks volume. Did you read the post. Where does it talk about politics ? Post was more of inquisitive in nature than any political statement. Next time, read, before passing judgement. Replying on impulse is a sign of fools(it's irrelevant if you are a Croat, Serb or any other !).
