Arjun MK II main battle tank may miss 2016 induction date

This is not a key problem,we have enough tanks as it is already.We can go slow.Its not like PA armour can start a new war and roll over anytime in the future and tanks are only really relevant vs pak.Our real problem is artillery and that has to be fixed asap.New artillery,plus better infantry equipment are key in the china border.We can actually cut down the number of tanks and focus on these 2 ,plus naval and aerial expansion.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Another failure? :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

now indians will cry after my post and bash Pakistan and say "Oh Pakistan just got nukes from China. Oh you just copy-paste North Korean Missile. Oh you just stole Sri Lankan design :lol: etc etc"

But the truth remains glaring...

yet another failed project from india...

While Pakistan's Al Khalid project doing wonderfully, Mashallah! And JF-17 project is light years ahead from Tejas too...

What's 6 months in the grand scheme of things? It's bester to induct the flu system that meets all the laid down service's criteria than induct it before it has cleared even IOC (cough cough JFT). This is how professional militaries work, grow up everyone.

And I wouldn't even believe the "may miss" part anyway Indian media are known to make 2+2=443 so let's just wait and see.....

Let's not get carried away. This is because the Arjun has failed to meet one of the let criteria the IA laid down- missile firing capability. It's like asking the IAF to induct the LCA with no BVR missile capability. It might be the Israeli faults but that's neither her nor there, the problem is a problem.
please dont think all things in negative prepective the failure its self is about 20% and problem is in ammo not in the gun .In field trials last year reported mk2 showed tremendous performance with hesh,afsds,heat rounds .Lahat can be replaced by other options and drdo is also making local version ATGM.

seriously man, something is amiss at a lot of places.. No one and i say no one can **** up a project so much !

The army has been the most opposed to indigenous products. Seems many are far too interested in the kickbacks they receive from the current system.

Some arses needs to be kicked hard and things will fall in place.

This is what we're made to believe. That the army is opposed to indigenous products because of their poor quality is also possible right? Or it could be a disproportionate mix of poor quality and kickbacks?

You have to try to promote the indigenous industry and give them time to grow and improve.

We have never seen that, always trying to put conditions for Indian products that they never put on the imported ones.

They should work with the industry to get what the need, not scuttle the industry that is developing capabilities.

Sure. But that doesn't mean the forces should induct sub standard weapons, does it?

Can you share a link?

Our industry is forever developing capabilities. What happened to the Sitara jet trainer? 14 years and still no sign of induction. What happened to the Saras? How long can you expect the forces to provide encouragement and support?

No. But a lot of imported stuff is sub standard as well. The issue is of working in the direction of developing indigenous capability.

Can you share a link?

Even this thread talks of Lahat integration as a pre-codition. Do we have the same for imported tanks?

Same thing goes for the ever changing user requirements on almost all indigenous products. I am not saying that the likes of DRDO are perfect.

The answer lies in more private industries participation, both large and SME and they should be encouraged funded and given assured orders on achieving the pre-agreed goals.

Yes, the public sector is mostly incompetent and has poor work culture. Competition is a must.

Please share links to substantiate your claim. Why on earth do we import sub standard stuff? If true, this is shocking.

You mean, the tanks that we import don't have LAHAT like capability? If yes, then maybe you have a point.

If our defense is in the hands of the public sector and you claim that they're incompetent and have poor work culture, how can they provide world class systems to our forces? And why should the forces who protect you and me betray us and induct weapons made by an incompetent organization?
