Details of the shooting from the press conference with FBI director and sheriff.

Loughner used a legally purchased Glock 19 9mm with a 33-round extended magazine.

A woman who shot when she tried to grab the gun out of Loughner's hands during reloading.

Loughner managed to get a second 33 round magazine in the gun, but the magazine malfunctioned because of a faulty spring.

Two men then tackled Loughner and threw the gun away.

There should have been some kind of police presence or armed security at the meeting.

See i told ya before, it always works, instead of blaming religion why not call the man mentally disturbed or insane, declare he got some sort of phobia and recommended rehabilitation. Case Solved, Religion spared. Every one Happy.

Routine meet and greet, the point was so she could shake hands and kiss babies. Very hard to separate her from the public in that situation. (my guess)

About lack of security I agree with your post. A politician doing a Meet-greet and baby kissing event needs to keep it open.

Tuscon being closed to the border attracts is a hotbed for illegal alien issues. She could have been more prudent about her security arrangements.


My sympathies to everybody who suffered losses in this tragic event.

It would be appropriate for the person who started this thread to repost the actual news article about this shooting.

This is of course an inexcusable event; the shooter was formally charged in federal court today and goes before a federal judge tomorrow morning, Monday, Dec. 10.

There is never, ever an excuse to shoot someone either for disagreeing with them or because you are simply mentally insane. The shooter already had a troubled enough record to have been put into a mental institute by court order...in my singular opinion.

Very bad situation.

That is a Glock for you. The most overrated thing out there yet even the police here use them.

My gut feeling tells me he wont be labeled a terrorist, nor will they link him to AlQaeda. Unless ofcourse, he ended up going to school with a Muslim, or saw a Muslim walk by, while crossing the road, when he was 6 years old. Er if he lives within 60 miles of a Mosque. Hmmm, we'll soon find out.

Or ofcourse they can just say, he's mentally deranged, because he's not black, nor a Muslim, so it must be psychological.

Well actually crazy or not, evidence says that he is still likely to have been politically motivated, and in that way, I'll probably think of the shooting as an act of political terrorism.

What is your reason for not thinking of it as that?
